Coral Reef Freshmen Student Government Informational Meeting SGA is opening up the application process for those students interested in becoming an SGA or a Class Officer for the 2019-2020 school year. ALL APPLICATIONS & TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS ARE DUE BY THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 TH Application and receommendations will be emailed to only those students who attend the meeting and signed in. Link to application cannot be shared! You must have at least a 2.5 GPA to apply. You must be willing to stay after school, attend meetings on/off campus, come in on Saturdays, take work home and be responsible for your classwork/home learning at all times. Candidates cannot have a “D” or lower in any academic class, cannot have any 2’sor lower in effort in any class or have a “B” or lower in conduct for any class. You must not be on any sort of probation (academic, academy, behavior, attendance, etc). Applicants must not be on probation while holding office. If you are placed on probation for any reason while on SGA, you will have to resign your positon for the remainder of the year. All position applications must be accompanied by a teacher recommendation. Link for recommendation will be emailed with the application. Any applications missing the required recommendation will be null & void. It is your responsibility to make sure the teacher recommendation is submitted on line. You must have a 2 nd recommendation by either your lead teacher or counselor Candidates cannot have more than 9 absences or 15 tardies in the 2018-2019 school year. SGA is opening up the application process for those students interested in becoming an SGA

1. Assist with United Way Events

2. Promote SGA fundraisers

3. Assist with treasurer paperwork and money collection

4. Promote class shirt sales

5. Assist with Values Matter activities

• Historian

1. Take pictures at all events freshmen are involved in

3. Set up and maintain social media account

4. Advertise SGA and Class activities and events

1. Each student will be allowed to have 3 posters to advertise their campaign

slogans. Posters can only be placed on school-wide bulletin boards and cork-

board strips around the school. Posters must be cleared through the activities

office and signed off by Ms. Santalo prior to being placed around campus.

(Room 47) Only standard size posters are allowed!

2. Students will be allowed to hand out only ½ page pamphlet or advertisements

during campaign day (during lunch only). Both your flyer and posters must be

approved by Ms Santalo in the activities office prior to making any copies.

3. Students will be able to use social media by using the hashtag

#crhs2023campaign. You and anyone posting for you or about you must use

the hashtag otherwise your name will be eliminated from the ballots. You

must also tag Coral Reef on any of your posts. @coralreefhs

4. Students may campaign via social networking sites as freely as they wish but

keep in mind that content must be appropriate and should not slander another

candidate. You cannot campaign with another candidate and you cannot

endorse another candidate.

5. Students Social media must be open to Coral Reef Senior High account for

tracking of campaign pictures, slogans and comments. Make sure to tag Coral

Reef on Instagram and Twitter. You cannot use your private accounts for

campaigning.

6. We will have campaigning day on Wednesday, September11th during lunch.

You will be given a table to share with another candidate and can give out ½

page sheet with approved campaigning information. You will receive a pass to

be released 10 minutes before lunchtime. It is your responsibility to come to

activities office that morning and get your pass to set up.

7. You may solicit the aide of non-campaigning students to assist with

creating/posting/distributing physical campaign materials. Word-of-mouth

and social media is allowed.

8. All campaign materials must be removed by the end of the respective election

period (primary or runoff) or the candidate will forfeit their position in the

election.

9. You may NOT vote on behalf of any student. Voting will be done through

school google forms.

10. Elections will be held September 12th – 16th .

11. Position announcements will be made September 17th

12. Mandatory 1st meeting will be held September 19th during lunch in Allyson

gallery. You will receive the Student Government Constitution and given

Senior advisors to connect with.

13. Students must adhere to any other policy that is dictated to them by Mrs.

Santalo, or any of the administrative team members.

Please note: Adherence to the above guidelines is a requirement to continue

candidacy. Should any criteria be violated, you will forfeit your position in this

year’s election.
