From the Principal

What a fabulous night it was on Tuesday for our celebration of our wonderful dads. It was great to see so many of you come along and enjoy an evening of fun with your children. Thank you to all of the staff and the Parent club who supported the evening to make it such a success. Happy Father’s Day for this Sunday to all the Dads in our community.

Last week we had our dress up day as part of our book week celebrations. It was fantastic to see all the wonderful costumes and great to see how creative some of our students are when choosing which character to dress up as. It was really fabulous to see our kids engage with Mark Wilson, an Author and Illustrator who visited the school to give a presentation and speak with our students. Thank you to Adriana for organising such an interesting and inspiring person to visit our school.

VOTE FOR CPPS Don’t forget to vote for our sensory playground by 17th September. The more votes we get, the greater our chance of being successful in obtaining a new playground. Go to pickmyproject.vic.gov.au to vote for CPPS.

SEPTEMBER TO MAY… NO HAT, NO PLAY Despite the wintery weather, it is time to start looking for your school hat, ready for the start of Sunsmart season. The UV rays are at dangerous levels, despite the rain and cold weather, so please make sure you

have a blue broad brimmed hat to wear outside from the beginning of next week. School hats are available from the office for $10 each.

BOOK CLUB Scholastic Book Club brochures were sent home last week. Orders can be placed online or order forms and money can be returned to the school. All orders need to be placed by 6th September.

BEFORE SCHOOL SUPERVISION There are quite a few students arriving at school early each morning. It is not safe for students to be in the school yard unsupervised and it is also concerning to see a number of students walking to school alone early, sometimes at around 8am! Classrooms are open from 8.45am, Fun & Fitness is on in the MPC and Breakfast Club is in the art room from 8.30am each day. Any students who are at school between 8.30 and 8.45am must attend Fun & Fitness or Breakfast Club as there are no teachers on duty in the yard during this time. Students should not be at school earlier than 8.30am, unless they are attending Before School Care.

2019 SCHOOL PLANNING Please make sure you have enrolled your child for Prep if they are beginning school next year. Please also inform the school if you are planning to move schools next year, so we can make well informed decisions on planning for 2019.

RESTORATIVE PRACTICE AT CORAL PARK Restorative Practice assists us to build strong connections and repair relationships that have been damaged. The framework enables students to be fully accountable and responsible for their actions and provides real consequences for their wrongdoing, mistakes and misunderstandings. We continue to share our Restorative Practice resources and language with our community so together we can work to build strong connections and improve student behaviour.

Book Week Celebrations Students had a wonderful day on Friday,

coming to school dressed up as book characters and they enjoyed our visit from author Mark Wilson. Mark demonstrated some of his great illustration styles and students also had the opportunity to try

Mark’s drawing technique.

It was wonderful to see so many dads, uncles & grandads join in our Father’s Day celebrations on Tuesday night. Lots of Dads received a refreshing shave and had fun at the photo booth. Some fancy giant ties were created, people tried their skills with

plate spinners & hoops and the sausage sizzle was popular with hungry families!

Thank you to our fabulous Parent Club and volunteers for organising the Father’s Day Stall today. It was fantastic for

students to be able to choose a special gift for Father’s Day. There will be the opportunity for students to bring money to buy something tomorrow, if they missed the

chance today, or they may like to buy something extra...

Wishing all our Dads a

Happy Father’s Day on Sunday!
