WELDING ... Always a good joint
Semi automatic welding without control system will produce bad joints. A costly repair is then necessary.
MEL seam tracking systems helps to produce perfect welds: a scanner checks the groove and measures the current position of the torch support and the quality of the joint. The sensor systems sends a feedback signal to the torch positioning support to keep the torch in the ideal position.

Thickness measurement with MEL Laser Sensors:
- Measurement of thickness (z. B. flooring, textiles, boards, roofing, wood etc.)
- recognition of duplicate sheets in automated industrial production
1. The object is on a stable ground:
A sensor measures the object surface, thickness is given as the difference of the object surface to the ground.
2. The object can be measured from both sides:
Two sensors measure the object from the upper and lower side. Thickness is given by adding the analog output signals from both sensors. The MEL sensor system includes the processing of the sensor signals, the output signal is 0 … 10 V / 4 … 20 mA for the thickness measurement result.

Inline control is a must for perfect quality, avoiding tool damage, waste and increases productivity.
MEL Laser sensors perform a 100% inspection for each part in process. They check dimensions, form and position.
Monitoring machined parts is highly effective: a feedback signal to the tooling machine compensates deviations of the parts, inform about tool wear and gives a early warning before the tool will break.
Sample testing is no longer necessary.
