1. Your Spiritual Life with Others 

Soul to Soul: Unmasking the Self 

Each of us needs and longs for an environment of safety, acceptance, and confidentiality, to be 

known by others. We often need help becoming aware of specific areas for growth (emotional, 

relational, and spiritual), we need accountability, and we need deep friendships. Deep 

relationships do not happen magically, but are a result of many things like shared experiences, 

mutual understanding, common struggles, shared victories, and common language.   

Soul 2 Soul is designed to help us take steps of faith to reveal ourselves to others trusting the 

process is worth the effort and the risk while believing meaningful connections will take place. 

Therefore, we will be intentional and share ourselves to each other, exposing our real selves, 

revealing who we are in order to be truly known. Soul 2 Soul can help create a healthy, lifelong 

habit of personal disclosure with others to experience deep and intimate friendships. 

Soul 2 Soul is a tool to help us share our lives with each other. It helps to answer the question, 

“What has shaped my life?” This may include positive and negative experiences, significant 

people, important events, how you became a Christian , significant truths God has shown you (or 

is teaching you now), and areas in which you may be struggling, etc.   

Soul 2 Soul consists of whatever you think will help others really know YOU, the Real YOU.  

A few ground rules: 

• Everything shared remains confidential. • Both mentor and mentee participate and the mentor goes first • Time limits will vary. This is your life, some will share longer than others and that’s okay.    Soul 2 Soul is not a time to share all your sins in life. Although certain sins or struggles may be part of your story, it’s not your entire story. Share what has shaped who you are, beneath the surface. It may be appropriate for others to know what you have or are struggling with, but don’t limit it to this. 

Be vulnerable. We are people who want to know you and care about you for who you really are. 

Masking who you are, especially negative aspects, will never create true friendships or intimacy. 

Don’t believe Satan’s lie “if people really knew me they wouldn’t like me”. Unmask yourself.
