FIT – Your first consideration. Every mission has a particular DNA. You want to be sure it matches up with your DNA.

Do you want to be self-employed (salary could vary with support income but required financial support need may be lower) or an employee (constant salary but required support need may be higher)?
Are ministry costs shared or specific to each team and missionary?
What is included in the financial support amount required? What is not included?
FINANCES – The stewardship of money is a critical issue and can be a source of unity or division on a ministry team.
What types of ministry or work does the agency do?
In what locations and with what people groups does the agency work?
Does your home church have requirements of its missionaries?
What is the agency’s view on roles of women and singles in ministry?
What are the agency’s education and language learning requirements?
What is the agency’s view of “team?”
What are the opportunities for growth and development?
Talk to other missionaries and find out what questions they recommend asking before joining an agency. Their answers might surprise you!
FOCUS & Other Considerations – Ask about the focus of the agency’s work in relation to your passion, gifting, and experience. Remember that God has a way of changing the plan on us without previous notice!
