Previous testing has yielded dates of occupation ranging between 6000 B.C. and A.D. 200. Work is scheduled for three weeks. The Mississippi Archaeological Association (MAA) is an organization of profes-sional archaeologists and lay people actively involved with archaeology and ar-chaeological preservation, uniting in a common effort to understand the prehistory and history of Mississippi and the surrounding region. Anyone who has a sincere interest in the cultural heritage of the state and is dedicated to the preservation of that heritage for all to enjoy is eligible for membership. Join Us! By becoming a member you will have opportunities to learn about the archaeology of Mississippi and to help protect and preserve our state’s archaeological re-sources. Membership in the MAA entitles you to receive its journal, Mississippi Ar-chaeology, which is published yearly. Mississippi Archaeology provides a forum for members and other professional archaeologists to share knowledge of archaeolog-ical discoveries at prehistoric and historic sites around the state. Members also receive four issues annually of the MAA Newsletter, which contains information about meetings, activities, and current research.
