Based in Weipa, the Western Cape Centre Limited (WCCL) is a Company limited by guarantee. The Company sits within the overall governance framework of the WCCCA Trusts structure however it is a separate and distinct legal entity from the Main Trust and the Western Cape Communities Property Trust.
The WCCL currently primarily manages the business of the use, maintenance and management of the Western Cape Centre based at Rocky Point in Weipa.
The WCCL is responsible for ensuring that the operation of the facility are commercially sound through the activities of meeting venue hire, provision of office and residential accommodation and the provision of a secure environment for indigenous training. Future commercial activities are planned that the WCCL would also manage.
The WCCL Board seeks an independent Director with a wide range of knowledge, skills, abilities and experience professionally and personally and who is committed to the advancement of Indigenous people and governance and to ensuring that funds received from commercial activities benefit current and future generations of the 11 Traditional Owner Groups.
The WCCL Board invites persons with the desired qualities to express their interest in becoming an Independent Director on the WCCL Board. PUBLIC NOTICE OF ALIGNMENT AMENDMENT TO THEMAPOON ABORIGINAL SHIRE COUNCIL
PLANNING SCHEME MADE UNDER THE ALIGNMENT AMENDMENT RULES AND THE
PLANNING ACT 2016, SECTION 293Notice is hereby given that on 16 July 2019 the Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council made the Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council Planning Scheme alignment amendment under the Alignment Amendment Rules and section 293 of the Planning Act 2016 to the Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council Planning Scheme. The alignment amendment will commence on 4 November 2019.
The alignment amendment has the purpose and general effect of aligning terminology with the Planning Act 2016 and making codes more robust for the purposes of development assessment using the new decision rules.
A copy of the alignment amendment may be inspected at and purchased from the council customer service centre located at Council Red Beach Road, Mapoon. The Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council Planning Scheme can also be viewed online and downloaded at https://www.mapoon.qld.gov.au/.

NOTICE OF ‘ONE CLAIM’ INFORMATION MEETINGLAURA
Date: Thursday, 19 September 2019
Venue: Bob’s Place Boardroom, Lot 1, Peninsula Development Road, Laura
Time: 9am to 2pm Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Purpose: This meeting is for Cape York Land Council to provide information to Traditional Owners about the status of the Cape York United Number 1 Native Title Determination Application (QUD673/2014) (One Claim) following a recent Case Management Hearing before Justice Mortimer in the Federal Court of Australia, where the Court decided to make orders for the future progress of the claim.
All Traditional Owners who have interests in the One Claim area are invited to attend. Please see map below depicting the whole of the One Claim area.Further One Claim information meetings will be held in September and October 2019 in other places on Cape York Peninsula. Separate notices will be sent for these meetings.
