To celebrate, we’re unveiling a new cookie—Girl Scout S’mores™—that gets

right to the heart of Girl Scouting. A crispy graham cookie double-dipped in

crème icing and coated in a chocolatey layer, this treat puts a modern spin on

the Girl Scouts’ classic sense of warmth, togetherness and adventure. It’s the

perfect excuse to gather ‘round the campfire and talk

about this year’s cookie lineup, the five essential skills,

and more ways to get prepared and excited for the

cookie sale!

EVENTS:

Glamping Sleepover

Who says you need to go outside for an amazing camping experience? We

have everything you need to recreate a campsite at your next Girl Scout

sleepover. You can choose one or all of the following activities to bring your

girls together for a great night looking at stars, building a campsite and getting

better acquainted with our new cookie offering: Girl Scout S’mores™!

As an added bonus, your troop can use each of these activities

for an extra touch of camping flair at your booths!

FOR OUR 100TH ANNIVERSARY!

Nothing says camping in the great outdoors quite like the roar of a cozy

campfire. Pack your best camping gear and get ready for a night (or day!)

under the stars! These construction paper hacks can transform your

sleepover—and your booth—into a cozy campfire scene, s’mores and all!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:Red, orange and yellow tissue paper, brown

construction paper, sticks, cotton balls, glue,

tape and grey construction paper or stones.

PREP:Layer a sheet of red, orange and yellow tissue paper and then bundle together

to create the flames. Create four logs by rolling the brown construction paper

into cylinders and gluing or taping to secure. Assemble the logs around the

flames and glue or tape all of them together. For some extra fun, create mock

marshmallow roasting skewers by gluing a cotton ball to the end of a stick!

Don’t forget that your campfire should be surrounded with

stones for safety purposes! You can use actual stones

or grey construction paper rolled into balls and

encircle around the logs.

MAKE YOUR OWN CAMPFIRE

No campfire is complete without the timeless ritual of lying under the stars.

This activity gives your troops a reason to come together for an evening of

stargazing while creating homemade telescopes that can even be used as a

prop at your booths!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:Telescope decoration printout (Page 14), empty

paper towel roll, coloring materials, black

construction paper, glue and any other craft

supplies you like (glitter, paint, stickers, etc.)

PREP:Have each Girl Scout color and cut out the

telescope decoration printout in whatever style

they want—from neon queen to glittery space traveler

and everything in between. Next, glue the decorations around the

paper towel roll and set to dry. Lastly, cover one end with a square

of black construction paper and carefully poke small holes in it

using a pen or safety pin. Hold up into the light to see your stars!

DIY STARGAZER BOOTH TELESCOPE

ORIGAMI CAMPFIRE STAR

Add a little sparkle to your cookies by handing out these stars with purchases

at your booth tabletop! Providing a handmade takeaway is the perfect way to

add a personal touch to the cookie selling process.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:Strip of paper - 11 inches long by a half-inch wide

PREP:To create your Origami Campfire Star, follow

instructions on Page 15.

BUILD-A-S’MORE CHALLENGE

There’s no sweeter way to brush up on your Girl Scout Cookie knowledge

than by building one of our cookies yourself! This activity helps your Girl

Scouts continue building their People Skills by working together to figure out a

common goal. It’s also a fun chance to strengthen Business Ethics—every good

business leader knows the details of their product inside and out!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:Cookie Fact Activity Sheet (Page 16), graham

crackers, marshmallows and chocolate

PREP:Does your troop know everything about our current cookie lineup, including

the brand new Girl Scout S’mores™? Now’s their chance to prove it—or at least

learn more about them! Have your girls pair off into teams of two, and take

turns asking each other questions from the Cookie Fact Activity Sheet. For

each right answer, a girl receives a piece of a s’more, starting with the graham

cracker and moving to the marshmallow, chocolate and final graham cracker.

The first girl to build a whole s’more wins!

Every Girl Scout has her own strengths that set her apart from the rest. She’s

creative, energetic, social, hardworking and so much more—and it’s time to

celebrate exactly what makes her stand out! To help us do just that, meet this

year’s mascot and an adorable, truly one-of-a-kind animal: Lulu, the lovable llama.

In honor of Lulu and this year’s theme, bring your girls together for a Friends

Forever Party! This is a great way to get everyone excited about this year’s

theme, run through your sales process and safety tips, and celebrate your girls’

friendships and what makes each of them so unique!

Crafting these fun and colorful bracelets is

a great way for your Girl Scouts to express

themselves and demonstrate their style and

individuality, and it also brings your troop

together to be creative and build an even

stronger connection with each other!

What you’ll need:Yarn (in any color—make sure to have a few

different options!), multi-color beads

Prep:Create two strands of beads and tie them together by

knotting the yarn around one of the ends. Wrap the yarn in

a tight zig-zag pattern between each pair of beads. Repeat

until you reach the end of the beads, and tie a tight knot

around the last one. Then, bring the two ends together and

knot them together. This will give each of your girls a bright,

unique accessory to express themselves!

What Would Lulu Do? Booth Brainstorming

Celebrate your Girl Scouts’ creativity by having a brainstorm with them about

a fun new place to set up a booth! If your troop tends to stick to the same

group of places, try and branch out to a different type of location. Are there

any local organizations your troop loves, that you can collaborate with on a

new way of promoting?

Make a list of each idea, and make sure every voice gets heard! This is a great

opportunity for your Girl Scouts to exercise one of the five essential skills,

Decision Making, and gives each girl the opportunity to express where she

most loves to go during cookie selling season!

100 Thank You Notes for Our 100th

Anniversary!

Nothing keeps your customers coming

back better than a thoughtful “Thank You”

note. As a fun challenge for our 100th

anniversary, help your Girl Scouts connect

with customers and build their essential

People Skills by personally thanking 100

customers with a hand-written card!

What you’ll need:Thank you note templates (Page 17-19),

envelopes and pens

Prep:The Thanks-a-Lot thank you note template on page

17 includes all the basic scripting you need for these

notes, and your troop can customize each one with

their own personal details. Keep a tally going and

celebrate once you hit 100 “Thank You” notes as a

troop! With the help of our template, this is a fun

way to reach your goal in no time at all!

Get your troop ready for their best Girl Scout Cookie Sale ever with these key

activities.

• Hold a Booth Role Play! This gives your Girl Scouts a chance to think on

their feet about certain situations, before the season starts. Have two

volunteers from your troop act out a scene (for example, a difficult

customer, complicated order, street safety scenario and more). If another

Girl Scout notices something the performer should have done, they can

tag into the scene and demonstrate what they would do instead.

Afterwards, make sure to clearly explain all the details of how the troop

should handle each scenario.

• Get your troop involved in social media! Talk to your locational partner

about promoting your booth on their social media channels. By mentioning

your troop’s handle along with @ABCBakers, @LemonadesCookie, and

@GirlScoutCookies, you can extend your reach and awareness.

o Want to get really creative? Have your Girl Scouts help out with

your troop’s social media! Brainstorm fun ideas and themes with

them that you can write up later as social media content (even

video!), direct from the Girl Scouts themselves.

Before kicking off another Girl Scout Cookie Sale season, make sure to refresh your troop on important

safety tips for selling:

1. Show you’re a Girl Scout: Wear a Girl Scout membership pin, uniform, or Girl Scout clothing (e.g. Girl Scout

T-Shirt) to identify yourself as a Girl Scout.

2. Buddy up: Always use the buddy system. It’s not just safe, it’s fun!

3. Be streetwise: Become familiar with the areas and neighborhoods where you will be selling Girl Scout

products. Contact your local police department if you are unsure about an area or neighborhood.

4. Partner with adults: If you are a Girl Scout Daisy, Brownie, or Junior you must be accompanied by an adult

when taking orders or selling/delivering product. If you are a Girl Scout Cadette, Senior, or Ambassador you

must “buddy up” when selling door-to-door. Adults must be present at all times during cookie booth sales.

5. Plan ahead: Be prepared for emergencies, and always have a plan for safeguarding money.

6. Do not enter: Never enter the home or vehicle of a person when you are selling or making deliveries. Avoid

selling to people in vehicles (except when designated drive-thru cookie booths) or going into alleys.

7. Sell in the daytime: Sell only during daylight hours, unless accompanied by an adult.

8. Protect privacy: Never give your name, home address, or email address to customers. Protect customer

privacy by not sharing their information except as necessary for the product sale.

9. Be safe on the road: Always follow safe pedestrian practices, especially when crossing at intersections or

walking along roadways. Be aware of traffic when unloading product and passengers from vehicles.

10. Be web wise: In order to participate in any online activities, you must have your parent’s/guardian’s

permission, and you must read and agree to the GSUSA Internet Safety Pledge before conducting

any online activities.

1. Start with a strip of paper about 11 inches long by a half-inch wide. Make a loop at one end of the paper. Weave the short end of the paper through the loop.

2. Pull gently to tighten, then flatten

3. Tuck the loose end into the pocket of the knot.

4. Now wrap the long end of the strip around and around the pentagon, making sure it aligns with the edges.

5. Continue wrapping until you can tuck the loose end into the pocket.

6. Use your fingernails to carefully poke in the sides of the pentagon so the star puffs out.

FINISHED!

To play, pair off your Girl Scouts into teams of two and ask them the

questions below. Reward every correct answer with a piece of a s’more

(graham cookie, marshmallow, chocolate, and final graham cookie). The first

team with enough right answers to form a whole s’more is the winner!
