OVERVIEW OF THE PROGRAM

The UCA interdisciplinary PhD in Leadership Studies (Leaders Engaged in Arkansans’ Development—LEAD) is focused on creating capacities of positive social change through leadership research and action. LEAD brings together active professionals from nonprofit, public health, government, and education who enter through a cohort model, taking most core courses together. Students meet face-to-face in the evenings (4-9 pm; with some Saturday courses) and attend on a full-time (9 credit hours) or part-time (6 hours) basis. Research-productive faculty instruct from a variety of disciplines with a focus on how leadership operates within and across their disciplines and professions. LEAD curricula, discussions, and research projects explore how leadership geared toward social change should leverage human and community development to influence well-being and justice for all. LEAD graduates are prepared to produce and use leadership research to transform organizations and communities.
