Conventions for Web Designers

DO NOT:◦ Use capital letters or spaces in names◦ Use punctuation or symbols

DO:◦ Use names that are easily recalled◦ Use prefixes to group like files◦ Name you main HTML file “index.htm”

Dreamweaver has already created a folder called WebGeeks, now we will make one for your personal work.

Your name folder is where you will keep all your assignments.

It is essential to setup the local folders in the correct location and way so you may change computers without losing your work.

Any other folders you create for your work with go inside your name folder.

Click to open Windows Explorer

Under Libraries, click on Documents and open folders until you open WebGeeks

Right click on the right side panel and select New and then select New Folder

Type in the highlighted name space your last and first name, all lower-case, no spaces.

For example, my name is Layne Ward, so I would name the folder wardlayne.
