ScenarioYou are required to investigate a small established local business of your choice which you think couldimprove an area of its performance. You should research the business to identify an area in which you believeits performance could be improved.You are required to give reasons for your choice of the area you believe could be improved. You are alsoasked to prepare a report recommending ways in which the business could improve its performance in thearea that you have selected.

Research and PlanningYou should: select a small established local business carry out research to identify areas of the business which could be improved choose one area for improvement and explain why you have chosen to focus on this

area consider appropriate ways in which the business could improve its performance in

this area.

ReportYour report must be produced under controlled conditions. You will have up to three hours to complete thisreport, which may be split over a number of sessions.Your report should include:1. a brief description of the business, including information such as the range of

products/services available, the target market, how the products/services are ‘produced’ etc

2. an identification of one area where the business could improve its performance3. the reason(s) why you believe the business needs to improve its performance in the

area you have chosen4. methods for improvement, together with an explanation, analysis and evaluation of

each method5. a final recommendation, with supporting evidence, as to which method you think

will work best.
