An essential system for control The control system is the nerve center of a plant. It needs to be complex enough to handle running and integration of a myriad of systems and simultaneous processes, whilst being simple enough to ensure flexibility, responsiveness, ease of operation, and minimize hands-on time.

In recent years, software and user interfaces have seen an unprecedented leap forwards. Control system technology has progressed much more rapidly than mechanical systems, which can remain reliable for decades. This means that many plants are facing challenges relating to outdated control systems, which can hinder productivity. Aging or obsolete components can have longer lead-times, leading to expensive down-time. Control system- related trips, or lockouts which preclude error resolution, can contribute to downtime and loss of profits. There are also growing problems with plant integration, safety, environmental and cyber security regulations.

This is where a control system upgrade can have a significant impact Over the last 15 years, at Siemens we have invested heavily into development of our control systems. Today’s solution is based on observations and experience from our fleet of thousands worldwide, with 15 years of the brightest minds working on developing a top-of-the-line system. The result is a market-leading product designed to fully meet modern requirements regarding modularity, flexibility and centralization.

Siemens is the only supplier that can upgrade the control system with a significant amount of improvements.

By choosing Siemens, we can ensure that all functions, limiters, trip criteria, etc. required for the operation and protection of the turbine are included in the systems and designed accordingly.

More than a 1:1 replacement

Why choose Siemens? You will benefit from Siemens’ innovative modern solution that is supported by 100 years of expertise. Siemens Control System upgrade ensures the perfect match between the control system and

Why make a control system upgrade?

Features Benefits

Unique Only Siemens can develop a control system that is 100% compatible to the tailored design of your specific turbine.

One common part Everything – turbine, turbine control and protection systems – supported 100% by the same company that designed your turbine.

New components Adapted to progressive technology. Providing operators with a simplified and better overview of the unit (i.e. on screen).

Control functionality of the new generation of turbines is adapted to older designs

Resulting in better control, fault tracing possibilities and, in the case of gas turbines, lower emissions.

Remote support (optional – included only in LTP or separate contract)

Increased support (24/7). All control system components can be easily and accessed through a secure remote connection by Siemens service engineers and specialists.

the turbine. Siemens Turbine Control and Protection system can easily be adapted to communicate with any other systems. You will also benefit from future OEM support by choosing Siemens as a control system provider.
