General
DescriptionGeneralThe 3RH11 control relays are suitablefor industrial use according to DIN VDE0106 Part 100. They are available ineither screw or Cage Clamp terminalversions.
The Sirius 3RH11 control relays arebased on the SOO frame size (same sizeas the 3RT101 contactors). The con-tacts are NEMA A600/P600 rated.These units have high contact reliabilityat low voltages and currents for elec-tronic circuits (currents > 1mA at 17V).
Four contacts are available in the basicdevice. Four additional contacts in theform of snap-on contact blocks can beadded to the front of these devices.These relays share the same snap-onauxiliary contacts, timing modules, andcontactor mountable timing relays thatare used on 3RT101 contactors.
Surge suppressionSurge suppression in the form of RCelements, varistors, diodes, or Zener-diode combinations can be easilyplugged into the front of the relays. Theunits are "keyed" so that the plug-indirection is always correct.
Alote: The opening times of the NOcontacts and the closing times of theNC contacts increase if the relay coilsare connected to surge suppressiondevices. Interference suppression diodeincreases times by 6 to 10 times. Diodecombination increases times by 2 to 6times. Varistors add 2 to 5 ms to thetime.
Interface RelaysThe Sirius 3RH11 interface relays aredesigned for coupling to PLCs andother similar devices. The interfacerelays come with a 24V DC low powerconsumption coil standard. Thesedevices also have built-in surge sup-pression to protect sensitive electronicsfrom the voltage surges associated withde-energizing the relay coil.
Cage ClampBoth the control relays and interfacerelays are available in Cage Clamp ver-sions for much faster and easier wiringand maintenance.

Relay & Relay TimingAttachment ModuleDescriptionRelay timing attachmentThese timing relays are functionallyidentical to stand alone timing relays,but are designed to mount to the frontof 3RH11 control relays to take up lessmounting space in a panel. They do notnecessarily need to be used to controlthe relay on which they are mounted.
The timing relay, which is available inON-delay and OFF-delay versions,allows time delayed functions up to100 s in 3 distinct time ranges.
These units contain a relay with one NOcontact and one NC contact. The con-tacts are switched either after an ON-delay or an OFF-delay, depending onthe version.
The timing relay is plugged into thefront of the control relay. The timingrelay is powered by a direct plug-inparallel connection to the coil terminalsA1/A2. The timing function is activatedupon energizing the control relay onwhich the timing relay is mounted, i.e.power is applied to the coil. The OFF-delay version does not require an exter-nal power source for operation.However, a minimum ON-time of200 ms is required for proper operationof the OFF-delay function. Also, avaristor is built into the timing relay tosuppress opening voltage surges in thecontrol relay coil.
Relay timing moduleThe timing modules are used in con-junction with the 3RH11 control relaysto delay the operation of the relays afteran ON-delay or an OFF-delay, depend-ing on the module version. Timedelayed functions of up to 100 s in 3distinct time ranges are allowed.Control relays with a tinning module willopen or close after a delay according tothe set time.
With the ON-delay version of the timingmodule is connected in series with thecontrol relay coil. Terminal A1 of the coilmust not be connected to the powersource for proper operation. Instead,connect the power source to terminalA1 of the timing module.
With the OFF-delay version, the controlrelay coil is powered by the timing mod-ule. Terminals A1/A2 of the coil mustnot be connected to the power source.
Instead, connect your coil power sourceto terminals A1/A2 of the timingmodule.
The timing modules are suitable forboth AC and DC operation.
The timing module is plugged into thefront of the control relay and then sliddown into its latched position. By doingthis, the timing module is connected byplug-in contacts to control relay coilterminals A1/A2. Any control relay coilterminals which are not required aresealed off by cover plates on the hous-ing of the timing module. This preventsinadvertent improper connection of thecoil terminals. A varistor is built into thetiming module to suppress any openingsurges in the control relay coil.
