COMMITMENTS

As an organisation, we place value on our dedicated people, and strive to build a reputation as a learning organisation. We have a unique approach to staff development in our 2020 Vision; our organisation fosters a culture of learning.

As a continually growing Welsh SME, we pride ourselves on our reputation, integrity, and our commitment to quality in everything we do.

We are always committed to our people, and this can be witnessed in our approach:

• We are the first private construction company in Wales to become accredited as a Living Wage Employer.

• We give our staff the option to donate to charity, and this is done through the salary sacrifice schemes.

• We have a unique approach to staff development in our 2020 Vision; our organisation fosters a culture of learning.

• Around 15% of our workforce, will be engaged in formal apprenticeships or study. This tackles the crises with local skills, and tackles it head on. This is worthy of notice, that this is three times the level that our national peers aim for (through other initiatives like the ‘5% Club’.)

COMMUNITY AND CHARITYOur commitment to the community includes:

• Breaking down our clients CSR and TR&T objectives, to deliver measurable legacies that are based on evidence. Local people are local experts, so we aim to keep them at the heart of any scheme. To do this requires proactively informing them, encouraging them and facilitating their engagement.

• We will commit to dedicated Community Funds. This will support the community, while educating and inspiring people.

• We will actively seek to support locally based SMEs and Social Enterprises by channelling business and training opportunities to them where possible.

• We will provide a dedicated Community Liaison Officer to enable our approach.

• We will facilitate links across the third sector. This will deliver support and activities to our communities. It will also encourage collaboration between specific groups. The idea is to target the input in order to maximise the output.

• We will support a nominated charity each year. This will be done through a formal corporate fundraising agreement, which includes the £12,000, raised in 2015 for Macmillan Cancer Support, and a target of £20,000 in 2016, for Ty Hafan Hospice.

10 Point Strategic Plan

ENVIRONMENTALOur operating procedures serve to formalise our approach to environmental management. This is all dictated by our ISO14001 accreditation. Any changes to our environmental performance, can only be influenced through strict adherence to our policies and procedures. This also includes our training initiatives, and our collective awareness as an organisation.

We are driven by our Health, Safety, and Environmental Managers, to deliver our operations efficiently while using minimal resources.

We regularly monitor aspects of our operation, in order to reduce our key outputs over the long term - this includes waste streams, our carbon output, and our energy and water usage. We also work hard to make sure we eradicate any environmental incidents.

HEALTH AND SAFETYWe are committed to ensuring our staff are fully qualified and capable in the latest procedures and that’s why we invested heavily in training. Each employee has a Training Plan and we work with organisations such as Construction Skills for Training as well as Gower College Swansea to deliver these requirements.

We have rolled out training to all employees on Sustainability, and this course is designed to raise awareness of the environmental impacts within the construction industry, and also highlight the evolving range of sustainable materials and technologies available in the market place.

All accidents are recorded and fully investigated to determine the root cause and identify areas for improvement. We also undertake occupational health monitoring where we consider the possible exposure to any hazardous materials may have an effect on their general well-being. Our accident statistics are excellent and below industry averages, this reflects our business approach.
