nternet has become most prevalent Ipart of our daily life. Along with the many benefits that internet provides

us; there are many threats it brings.

Recently I came across the news of students committing suicide because of a g a m e c a l l e d B LU E W H A L E CHALLENGE. It’s a Russian game which is spreading all over the globe, it consist of series of 50 weird tasks, the horrific tasks include self-harming, watching horror movies and waking up at unusual hours, and these gradually get more extreme with the final challenge requiring the challenger to commit suicide.

According to the owner of the game, he

Srashti Suneriya Mittal, GururamStock Analyst

has made this game to “clean” the society from the people who don’t have any value. There are 130 deaths of teens in Russia due to this game & as it is said, bad things travel fast, this game is not limited to Russia only. In India also deaths of some teens have been recorded due to this game.

The consequences of this game made me feel to write this article. How can you keep your kids away from such internet threats?« First, and most important thing to

keep in mind is to be happy and keep the atmosphere of the home pleasant, which will help your child to not get in depression... if a child is lonely and depressed there are

e t ’ s t a l k a b o u t t h e L“Uncomfortable” things

Our families and the environment around us is a mixture of emotions, values, cultures and experiences which are followed from ages and a lot of opinions by parents and relatives. Though our parents are the best things that could happen to us, Indian mommies and daddies need to start talking about the “uncomfortable” topics and put their inhibitions on the back burner.

A lot of topics range from sex to mental illness and even politics, and yes, Indian parents need to just talk about it and share their experiences. Parents need to understand that their kids may be right sometimes and it is not wrong to talk about certain issues with them, rather than shying away from it. It may happen that a child and a parent might have different ideologies and they may even clash. Instead of forcing their thoughts, it is time to embrace the kids along with their ideas and try to think from their point of view.

When parents talk and forget the social

taboos, it not only helps the kids to find a solution but also helps them find a buddy in their parents. Therefore, it is important for parents to educate their children about sex, relationships, their sexual orientation, and birth control measures. It is the tendency of a human to hide their emotional state, so every parent should know their child's mental state. As we grow up, we face problems that are not entirely our fault. Mental health is also important for one's well-being, and should be something parents should talk about regularly.

This was just a piece of suggestion, and we must try to forget our inhibitions and be friends with our kids to develop and mold them into responsible human beings.

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE UNCOMFORTABLE THINGS

RELATIONSHIPS CAN FAIL

his is not a negative topic; in fact Tone of the most positive topics ever. So, relationships fail and

people experience misery. My question is, do we always have to experience misery if relationships do not work out?

Look at it this way. A Relationship itself is about two different people coming together on a belief that perhaps they can be good together. Now focus on the perhaps. There is no way of knowing right in the beginning whether both of you would be good for each other. So, you believe, you want to believe, that it would be a great par tnersh ip . Interestingly most of us have this belief much before knowing the other person well. In fact, we are not even sure of who we are in most of the cases.

We like some thing about someone. Mind you it is ‘something’ and not ‘everything’. But we want to believe that this ‘something’ is enough for the happily ever after. That’s when we start building our dreams and aspirations around this belief of ours almost totally oblivious about the dreams and aspirations of the other.

Then at some point it comes to fore that what we both wanted was not the same.

So, what is the big deal? Why the condition that all the people who meet in this world should have 100% compatibility?

Then comes the break up and our melt down starts. Here is when I say relationship is not just about you. It is about two different people trying to come together. Isn’t it easily possible that it won’t work? Do give it a fair try. Talk, discuss, know your partner and tell them about what you want. Request them to change in certain ways and show your willingness to change some.

But if it still does not work, move on. Relationships can break. Do not put the conditions that your relationship has to work. Move on. It is okay.

ell, all of us are very much Waware of how a girl has all the freedom in life before

she is married. She is free to fulfil all her wishes. Once a girl is married she may not have all the freedom, she may not be able to fulfil all her wishes. She may not be allowed to go outside for work, or to socialize much. But has anyone given it a thought that, how much would all this affect a girl?

To be precise, in the beginning a girl might try to adapt to the homely environment, she’ll try and adjust to all the new rules & regulations of the new house. Once she is expected to be fully responsible for all the happenings of the house, she may find it difficult to stand up-to the expectations. Not all humans

henever we go to a party or Wvacation I always make sure we take plenty of pictures. I

think most of the people do that and quickly share it on the social media sites. There are some who do not believe in this show off. They take the pictures but only for themselves. Pictures are a beautiful way of storing your moments and reminiscing them from time to time.Well I like to share the pictures with my family and I do that almost immediately after I am home. What is it that you do by sharing the pictures? Are you doing a show-off or are you getting them envious of what you wore or how you partied?

The next time someone asks you to share the pics, do so without any hesitations. The bond will surely grow when you have these interactions of sharing and caring. They too want to share your happiness, whether it’s seeing your kid splashing water in the bath tub or dressed up in a new dress or even saying his prayers or singing a new rhyme he learnt in school. They want to hear the story he is narrating or see him play in the park with joy.

Especially its true for grandparents, they are always so fond of their grandchildren and will want to rejoice even the smallest act of them.

If you send across their pictures and videos, they will be pleased and will keep seeing them again throughout the day. They wi l l be p leased that you remembered them and sent the pictures. These small gestures will mean a ton.

Sharing doesn’t mean bombarding the other with pictures and videos all the time, but just enough to bring cheer and smile on their face.

Happy clicking !

KINDS OF FLOWERS TO GREET OUR GODDESS

GODDESS PARVATI: Parvati is the wife of Lord Shiv and the benevolent form of Durga. She represents health, strength and a blissful marriage. She favours Lotus, Hibiscus, Champa, Bela and the fiery orange blossoms of Palash.

GODDESS LAKSHMI:Lakshmi is the Goddess of prosperity. Her complexion is like gold and she wears red clothes. She sits on a lotus, so lotuses are offered in worship. She is married to Lord Vishnu and likes flowers that are offered to him. Hence, orange Marigold and white Bela flowers are also offered to her.

GODDESS SARASWATI:Saraswati is the Goddess of knowledge. She wears white and sits on a white

Like all counsellors advise us to look for symptoms of the victims; if they stop eating and don’t do the things they used to and don’t talk and sulk whole day. Likewise we need to look for symptoms who are bully, wherein too much violence and too much back answer and ‘don’t care’ attitude should be tapped in time, lest they create victims!

Talking about girl bullies, I am of the opinion this is good for their confidence building and leadership quality however as long as it is harmless.

I am sure there won’t be time far away when organizations and civic leaders will advocate the boys to stay safe.

lotus. She is offered white lotuses for obvious reasons, but She favours any fragrant white flower such as – Bela, Rajnigandha, Juhi, Chameli & Palash.

GODDESS MAHAKALI:Mahakali is the warrior, the destroyer of demons. She is the angry form of Durga. She is worshipped on the night of Deepawali. Mahakali is worshipped with Red Hibiscus and Yellow Kanerflowers.

All forms of Goddesses:The flowers of Juhi, Aparajita, Hibiscus and Red Lotus are dear to Goddesses in any form.

Some of the aforementioned flowers are easy to grow on your own. So bring them home, and offer to the Devi the flowers that are the dearest to her.

ffering flowers at the feet of OGod is a symbolic act of offering your purest feelings.

In this post, I will mention flowers used in the worship of Goddesses.

GODDESS DURGA:Durga represents valour and bravery. She favours the colour red; the clothes and flowers offered to her are often red.The flowers dearest to her are Red Hibiscus, Red Kaner and Lotus. The royal blue blooms of Aparajita are also very dear to her. The flower is named after one of her names – the one who can’t be defeated.

Another flower very dear to her is Kadamba. She is said to be Kadamba-Nivasini – the one who lives in Kadamba forest.

magine girls saying that! Though it Iseems to be a much more appalling situation for female gangs than it is

for male gangs!

I being a college professor have come across many girls who are bullied. I happened to ask a few boys in my neighbourhood, including my son, about girls; they all said in once voice ‘dangerous’. These teenager girls can be a perfect bully. There are time slots given out for girls and boys in all the facilities in our society, like badminton court, clubhouse. I wondered why and how; to my surprise I came to know that the resolution came because boys were beaten up and thrown out and intimidated by girls.

Suddenly being a woman I was so proud. Now it’s time to mark our terrains. When I was young I was bullied by none other than girls friends! And now I am sure 8 out of 10 girls have been a gang person in their childhood. I have also noticed that they are sensitive about girl issues. They are very protective of their peers, including boys who come for help.

Take the example of my niece, she wouldn’t care who is in front of her, if she dislikes a person she doesn’t mind any word; point blank and straight forward.

As my girls have been teenagers I know for sure that they bought hood-t-shirt just to look cool and be mysterious!

All this is ok, but the surprise is they want to be exactly like boys gang. Evenings drink, power bike-driving, etc that too girl gang way. Why because they want to feel the power of independence. However most keep some meek boys as security. I am sure this trend should be recognized by parents, elders who had better be alert about gangs either boys or girls, they might want to go out and try some extremes(rash driving, drugs, weapon, sex, etc.) to feel powerful, secure, and to look hype and cool.

RAMESH

amesh had not slept peacefully Rfor months. Tonight was no different. Every time he closed

his eyes, he saw his loving daughter’s face – Maya.

Oh! He was so proud of her. She proved herself time and time again. She was every father’s dream come true. She was beautiful, smart, talented, extremely successful and oh so stubborn – just like him. He shook his head. Why could she not just listen and give into them? No, she wouldn’t. She was after all HIS daughter. Why should she compromise on her life? After all, it was her life!

His heart and mind understood everything, but still he could not bring himself to embrace her decision. Why? What would society think of it? What would the neighbours say? What would the relatives think? He knew he was weak there – he could not stand up for his daughter. Rather, he gave into the whims of societal nonsense. He could not break away from tradition.

Ramesh turned to his wife. She was sleeping peacefully. Yet, he knew the thoughts she battled on her own. He knew that she too missed Maya as much as he did. She was under the same pressure as he. He decided to speak to her. “Mamta,” he softly whispered and laid his hand on her arm. “Sleep,” she said and turned her body away. She must be very tired, he thought, and removed his hand.

He took a glance at the clock. It was 11 pm, that meant it was 6:30 pm in London. He wondered what she was up to! He looked at the calendar, it was the 24th of September, 2017, that meant it had been 6 months and 11 days since Maya left for London. He missed her every single day. He wanted to speak to her, to see her, to hold her. She was his previous. He sighed! He knew what he had to do. He just needed the courage to do it. Where would that courage come from?

The reason for disappointment may not be legit alwaysFor it’s just the mirror image of one’s own mindset

To be happy is a matter of choice alright,But you chose to be disappointed instead!

Sometimes you succumb to your own theoriesBefuddled by your own creations, assumptions

You think of something in a particular wayWhich may not be going in the right direction.

For different people will have different perspectivesIt’s not always what you want is what you'll get

Sometimes we just burden ourselves with expectationsAnd that is the reason for disappointment, you bet!

Forcing your "would've done" on others is not coolFor others may have their own problems, you know

Hear them out before drawing your own conclusions,Do not disregard them, what they're going through, you'll

never know!

Trust their choices, if you believe in themConvince yourself that the best choice is being madeFor questioning them will only make them look guilty

And in this epiphany of uneasiness, foundation for regret is laid

Understanding the other side of the story is not easyBecause people just love to propel their own side

Just clear your mind once and give it a try,I am sure your disappointment will be gone with the tied.

used to think memories are more Il ike album of pictures where incidences are stored in a stagnant

format and we can just recollect those pictures as per our wish. And like d isco loured o ld p ic tures some memories also get vanished over the time.

But now I feel, memories are something like multi-verse, they are captured in a parallel universe and when we recollect them it’s like we mentally visit the alternate universe for a short period of time and re-live those moments.

Sense organs have crucial role in making our life more interesting and colourful. Beyond these, combination of senses offers key pattern to peculiar memory. When we remember some incidence we can actually feel the sense of some smell, touch, sound or something which was present in the background of that incidence and re-experiencing the sense live-like feel to that memory.

For example, some old songs just toss me back to my old hostel-room, where I find myself filling out practical journals with headphones on. Some old mobile ring tones give me flashbacks of exciting college days. View of cold-drink bottles arranged in small stalls takes me back to those cool summer holidays spent at Mamacha Gaav (maternal uncle’s house). Aroma of semolina roasted in ghee turns on the Diwali fever.

Scientists have established a connection between areas of brain processing senses with some emotional memories. They are t r y ing to ut i l ize th is phenomenon to treat some anxiety disorders.

Let’s do some experiment, keep a note of smell, colour or music which take you back to nice moments of your life and whenever you feel down just listen to that music, go for that perfume or wear that colour on you. Maybe this will be our remedy for bad mood!

REJOICE THEMEMORY

RECIPE

I am sharing a recipe which may not seem very appealing, but is close to my heart and turns out to be very tasty. A yummy way to consume the Pearl Millet / Bajra.

INGREDIENTS:Ÿ Bajra Flour – 250gmŸ Sugar – ½ cup (can be altered as

per preferred sweetness, jaggery can also be used)

Ÿ Ghee – 1 cup

METHOD:Ÿ Melt Sugar in water completely.

Same process for Jaggery.Ÿ Take the Bajra in a bowl. Melt ½

cup of Ghee and mix it nicely with the flour.

Ÿ Now add Sugar water (not syrup as we won’t boil the sugar and water) and make nice soft dough.

Ÿ Let it settle for 10 minutes.Ÿ Then make small balls and flatten

them like chapatti with hand, it will be thicker than regular chapatti.

Ÿ Cook it on non-stick tawa at low flame, using the remaining ghee. Both sides should turn golden brown. Adding more ghee makes it more crispy and yummy.

Ÿ It can be stored in refrigerator up to 10 days. Jaggery makes the Chakli Softer, while sugar makes it Crispier. It can be served as it is and dœsn’t require any side dish.
