My first draft and design My original design like the front cover had very little representation of ICT skills and appeared very bland and boring. Following the same themes as the front cover the page consisted of the same style border and use of the logo I designed as means of a trademark for part of the logo. I originally opted for my design to have yellow as the main colour as it followed the theme of a bee ( like the title and logo the buzz). I changed my mind about the yellow being the 'main' colour and instead chose to faint white and black tones to contrast and make a classic vintage theme as well as I thought it made images stand out alongside the other colours.

The design was simple and seemed ok but I feel that after I had gained more experience with ICT I could make a better and more pleas able page that would appeal more to my target audience.

My final plan Layout

For the main body on my final design I decided scatter the images in different areas of the page almost like looking on a table with spread out photo’s. I originally had planned to construct all the images in groups and in boxes to keep it all neat and compact. But after looking at other magazines and adding additional research of my own I found that I preferred the more use of images and variety of structure almost like my front cover. Although it’s the contents page I would like to keep my readers interested by not revealing all I have to offer in my magazine from the first 2 pages. I think I would prefer to keep a minimalist layout and keep the reader hooked to read on and explore more.

Images The images I chose to include were of all musicians I knew from around my local area performing live on stage or striking a representative pose of a modern musician. I felt that a clear acknowledgement of what these people do was important to representing the music magazine and the articles I wished to write about them. As my magazine still follows a classic theme the musicians are seen in darker shades of light to contrast with the background so all the images can stand out from one another.

MastheadAs the same as the front cover the masthead will be located in the same place with the same style font and size only saying contents on this page. I will add a shadow effect on the contents page as there is no background to contrast particularly off.

BackgroundFor this page I have chosen not to have a background but build the images on the plain white background so I can add tilts and shadow effects on particular images on the page. I felt that I couldn’t find a relevant or interesting background colour or Image that would relate to my theme, but as I can now add effects to my images to stand out more the plain background is ideal.

Colours On my contents page I have chosen to use more elaborate colours as well as my basic and dominant colours of black, white and faint greys. I have used some candy apple reds in the title and around the borders of the images. I have also used candy blue in similar areas to almost pull off racing strips on parts of the page like retro race cars have.
