Headline – This gives indication as to what the article is about and immediately informs readers what the page is focused on

Masthead – This is featured at the top of the contents page as it anchors the title of the magazine

Editor’s letter – This discusses what is in the magazine this month/week/fortnight and summarises the overall contents.

Date – Informs the audience how recent the magazine is and when it was published

Captions of images – These explain the image and reveal who it is, what the article is about and what page to find it on

Typography – The different styles of font on the contents page make the text readable and again signifies the rock genre

Subheadings – These subheadings indicate to the reader what will be found on a specific page which makes a certain article they may be interested in easily accessible. The format of the subheadings also makes it seem like there is a lot of content in the article making the readers more inclined to purchase the magazine as this infers that they are getting a lot for their money.

Subsidiary images – These appeal to readers who aren’t particularly interested in the main image. This helps to attain a wider audience and hold a reader’s interest.

Graphic features – The graphic features of the contents page make the genre of the magazine obvious as within the colour scheme there is a wide use of black, connoting the rock genre. This helps to appeal to the correct audience as the graphic design of the page makes it clear what the contents of the magazine will be based upon

Main image – This is for the main feature article. The black and grey colour scheme anchors the genre of the magazine and the style of music the artist produces

Page numbers – These can be found next to the article titles as they reveal where in the magazine an article is located. There are also line gaps between each section.
