MONASTERIES EXCURSION

Capriana Monastery €80Founded in 1429, it was later worshiped to the Zograf monastery from the Saint Athos Mountain. During a long period, Capriana monastery acted as the residence of the Moldavian archbishop. Being closed and devastated in the post-war years, it was one of the first monasteries that reopened in 1989, becoming soon the symbol of national revival. Duration: up to 3 hours and 30 min.

Curichi Monastery €85The complex of the Curchi Monastery is surrounded by a high stone wall endowed with towers at each corner, creating the image of a fortress. The main church, built in 1810, has a monumental look, enhanced with baroque elements, yet keeping Moldavian traditional style. Duration: 4 hours

Harjauca Monastery €120Codru (ancient Moldavian oak forest) – a green island filled with birds twittering around, but at the same time with quietness. Here, lost among the beech alleys, hidden from the stranger’s eyes, is the old Harjauca Monastery. It is surrounded exclusively by whispering springs, ringing of bells and quietness.Duration: 4 hours

Saharna Monastery €150Situated near the Tipova village, the monastery with the same name is considered to be one of the oldest monastic establishments on the territory of our country. The heritage, which consists from 18 rooms, dug into the rock at an astounding altitude, represents an impressive museum in the open air. Duration: 6 hours

Tipova Monastery €150This cave monastery is protected by four hills, which creates a peaceful atmosphere. Legend says that once one of the old rock monastery’s monks saw the glowing face of the Virgin Mary on one of the hills. When they reached the rock, the monks found in the stone a trail from the foot, which they perceived as evidence of the “Divine purity” of this place. Later the chapel was built there. Today pilgrims come here to look at the St. Mary's sign.Duration: 6 hours
