April 28th WorldShare License Manager Release This release introduces additional options for ingesting COUNTER reports into License Manager in preparation for new reports in WorldShare Management Services later in 2015. Also included is new support for tracking license costs over time as well as an introduction to the License Manager Platform API. Additionally, many bug fixes and minor improvements have been completed.

New Procedures for COUNTER Report Harvests Enhancements to COUNTER report harvesting include the ability to conduct an ad-hoc harvest from a configured vendor, and the ability to configure COUNTER version 4 harvests from compatible vendors.

To configure the COUNTER version 4 report harvesting via SUSHI for a compatible vendor, choose “Harvest Configuration,” then select a vendor from the “Automatic Harvest” menu. This list now shows both version 3 and 4 compatible vendors and allows you to select which reports you’d like to gather.

When a COUNTER report must be re-downloaded from a SUSHI-compatible vendor, it can be helpful to only request the month that’s in question. This can be accomplished via the Harvest Configuration Menu under the “Manual Harvest” option. Select “Transfer report file from configured vendor,” and specify the report and month you wish to re-download. The “Vendor Name” drop-down queries your list of configured vendors. When “Transfer” is selected, the report(s) you requested will appear in Harvest History for that vendor shortly. The standard turn-around time is generally within 15 minutes except for very large reports.

New Look for Licenses with Improved Action Bar Both licenses and templates have been improved to allow for a consistent view across many browser window sizes. A new action bar has been added at the top of licenses and templates that allow for easier editing, even when you page down to view lengthy licenses.

New Procedures for Recording License Costs It is now possible to record costs associated with a licensed resource. Under the “general” accordion on a license, you’ll see a section labeled “Current Cost” with a value (if entered) and an “edit” button.

Clicking the “Edit” button takes you to a new “License Period(s)” history. License change history is now in its own tab under History.

New Read-Only Access to Licenses via a Platform API Developers of library services who also subscribe to WorldShare License Manager now have access to license content via the new License Manager Platform API. For details, visit the OCLC Developer Network’s page on the WorldShare License Manager API.

Please Note: the Platform API will be released shortly after the April 28th, 2015 release. A date will be shared in the coming days.

New Character-Count Indicator on Comments When encoding licenses and templates, a new character-count indicator has been added for description and notes fields. This indicator shows the count of characters present out of a total number of characters the field will accept.

Improved Date Editing Functionality All calendar date fields can now be edited directly by typing a date without having to navigate via the calendar widget.

WorldCat knowledge base collections are now linked It is now easier to edit WorldCat knowledge base collections by linking directly from a license.

Bug fixes • Browsing more than 40 licenses at a time no longer throws a time-out error • Comments are no longer limited to 255 characters and have been increased to 1,000

characters. • IE 9 and 10 will now update and delete licenses correctly • A bug preventing document uploads for IE9 was corrected • Templates no longer return an error when terms of use are removed from the template • Fixed the “Governing Jurisdiction” term of use which was missing data entry labels in Internet

Explorer • Cardinal numbers are now enforced for term of use values (i.e. number of concurrent seats will

now read “5” instead of “5.00”) • License custom terms of use now correctly require certain fields to be populated before the

license will save • The term of use “Course Materials” can no longer be edited by the read-only user role

ERM_Staff • An issue was corrected for IE 10 where tables were not rendering correctly in the interface • Editing of “Printed Course Pack” and “Copying & Sharing” terms of use by the role

ERM_STAFF, which is a read-only role, has been removed

Licensor field may be empty The “Licensor” field in License Manager maps directly to the collection field labeled “Provider” found in a WorldCat knowledge base collection. A WorldCat knowledge base collection’s provider field can be updated with entries from the global knowledge base list of providers. For providers of collections not represented in that list, we’re working on enhanced functionality to label licensor/providers.
