Petromax: A German brand with tradition and historyPetromax' history dates back to the year 1866, when Albert Graetz founded the lamp factory Ehrich & Graetz OHG in Berlin (Germany). His sons Max and Adolf assumed the leadership of the family-run company in 1897, and, from then on, when the legendary high-pressure lamp was developed in 1910, the company achieved worldwide success. Still today, Petromax is known for its pioneering technical spirit and represents an important part of Germany's industrial history, even 150 years after the originally company foundation. From the very beginning, fire and light, German engineering skill as well as highest quality standards have always been the core elements at Petromax. The family-run successor company Petromax, which originally was a family company founded by Graetz, is being managed by Jonas Taureck and Dr. Pia Christin Taureck. The Petromax group continues the long brand tradition and represents German engineering skill. Technical pioneering spirit, continuous development, functionality, German quality standards, but also a close customer service: This is what Petromax is all about.

Consistently developing elaborate details, smart improvements, and new products – Petromax never does things by halves. Everything that is developed by Petromax is made with the premise: It is good only if it is resistible, robust, and durable.

The Petromax product range is rooted in the legendary high-pressure lamp, Max Graetz invented more than 100 years ago and named it Petromax, based on his own nickname (Petroleum Maxe). In the beginning of 2007, Jonas Taureck acquired the trademark rights of the steeped in history brand and resumed the production of the once innovative high-pressure lamp. The success of the Petromax lamp opened his eyes for the charm of outdoor equipment and, thus, an entire product world which Petromax now systematically enters. Within the last two years alone, Petromax has launched more than 30 new products.

From Germany into the WorldThe Petromax group has its headquarters in Magdeburg (state Saxony-Anhalt, Germany), where we develop, promote, commission, and ship our products and run a manufactory. Good reasons for cast ironCast iron is a heavy, sturdy material that has an incredibly long lifespan when given proper care – Petromax products will make generations of people happy. Cast iron is ideally suitable for use on embers or an open fire, but its place in the kitchen at home is also undeniable. A paticular advantage of the material is the even temperature distribution and the constant heat storage. The patina is a characteristic of cast iron; it gives food a better taste with every use. The rough surface absorbs grease and flavours and passes them on to the food the next time it is used. Cast iron is easy to clean and to take care of – without any dishwashing liquid. All Petromax cast-iron products have a so-called seasoned finish and can be used directly without a prior seasoning.

The Petromax Dutch Oven was tested by the independent Institute Fresenius. That is how we ensure quality and safety of our cast-iron products.

1 Griddle and Fire BowlsGrilling, frying, lighting a fire: On the steel griddle made in Germany, food that needs various times to cook is ready at the same time. The center area becomes hotter than the outer surface, so that steaks, bakery produce and so on can finish cooking or be kept warm on the edge. Thanks to the removable pillars, the griddle can be placed on the gas cooker or, with the three pillars (9.1 in), over an open fire. The all-rounder turns into a fire bowl, when a cozy fire is lighted inside it.

1-2 Fire Kettle fk1 | fk2If the Fire Kettle is heated on an open fire, the heat will rise instantly due to the stack effect. The water in the double wall will then boil within a few minutes. As soon as the liquid inside the kettle has reached its boiling point, the steam whistle will sound. By placing a small top piece above the mouth of the kettle, the escaping heat can be used to heat up small dishes. Thanks to its three feet, the Fire Kettle does not leave any burned spot and stands steady on any surface. The Fire Kettle can be transported in a space saving manner by just placing the accompanying bowl for fuels with folded feet from below into the Fire Kettle.
