Geoffrey PooleGeoffrey Poole was born in England and has lived in East Africa, and in the USA as Visiting Fellow in Composition at Princeton. He studied traditional performance in Korea and Gambia. Poole taught at Manchester University (1976–2000), as Professor of Composition at Bristol University (2000–2009), and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. His works include Sailing with Archangels for wind orchestra, commissions for the Lindsay Quartet, the BBC Singers and the Hallé Orchestra, the concertos Swans Refl ecting Elephants for Javanese Gamelan and chamber orchestra, and Lucifer for piano and 21 loud instruments. He has also written several works for children.

Geoffrey Poole stammt aus England und lebte zeitweise in Ostafrika sowie in den USA, wo er in Princeton Gastdozent für Komposition war. In Korea und Gambia beschäftigte er sich mit traditionellen Aufführungsweisen. Poole lehrte an der Universität Manchester (1976–2000) und als Professor für Komposition an der Universität Bristol (2000–2009). Daneben ist er „Fellow“ der Royal Society of the Arts. Zu seinen Werken zählen Sailing with Archangels für Blasorchester sowie die Konzerte Swans Refl ecting Elephants (für javanisches Gamelanensemble und Kammerorchester) und Lucifer (für Klavier und 21 laute Instrumente). Er erhielt Kompositionsaufträge vom Lindsay Quartet, von den BBC Singers und vom Hallé Orchestra. Außerdem schrieb er mehrere Werke für Kinder.
