Evaluation Paragraph #2Making an Evaluation/Judgment on the Negatives of

Imperialism

While Britain helped modernize India, this caused India to become economically dependent upon the Great Britain and through modernization they lost their culture. During their Imperial control, most of Indians resources went to Great Britain. In the rural areas, many Indians went hungry because farmers had to send their crops for cash from Great Britain. This left them with no food for themselves. Under British rule people in lower social classes in India were able to gain more rights, however this happened at the cost of Great Britain replacing Indian culture with western ways. Great Britain's’ modernization of India appeared to help Great Britain more than it did the people of India.

ConclusionState your final Judgment! Did imperialism have

more positive or negative effects?

The policy of Imperialism helped expand the British Empire to be one of the strongest in the world. This led to cultural diffusion and economic development in places like India. However, there were more negative effects of British Imperialism on the India than positive. India lost many of its traditional customs and became dependent on the Britain to support its’ economy. While imperialism made Great Britain economically powerful, it destroyed the economic power of India and had lasting effects on the country.

Analytical Writing versus Descriptive Writing

Contemporary Global Issues ClassMs. Butler

Page 17: Contemporary Global Issues Class Ms. Butler. Mind Warmer: Are humans inherently (naturally) good or evil? Which theorist do you agree with and which one

How is descriptive writing different than Analytical Writing?Descriptive writing just says what happened or what

another author has discussed; it provides an account of the topic.

Prior to the French Revolution there was a king who was the Absolute Monarch. The people of France were divided into three estates or social classes. The Third Estate, which was made up of 98% of the population, had the least amount of land and was the only ones who paid taxes. The unfair taxation of the Third Estate was a cause of the French

How is descriptive writing different than Analytical Writing? An analytical (or critical) writing asks and answers questions

and makes comparisons. Rather than just stating the facts, this approach explains and interprets them. Why did events take place, what were their consequences? How did they relate to other developments? What is your own interpretation of the issues?

Prior to the French Revolution, France suffered under an absolute monarchy that denied people their basic rights or say in their government. France was divided into three estates or social classes. Under this system there were limited opportunities for people to move out of the estate you were born into. The Third Estate had the fewest rights in French Society and was treated the most unfairly. Even though they were 98% of the population, very few people in the Third Estate owned land and they had the greatest tax burden in France. The French Revolution began because the Third Estate was determined to better their situation and end the their unequal treatment in France.
