She is a strong and sassy mother who needs style, yet functionality. This mother is consistently on the go, but never scarifies fashion. She is a grandmother who has grown wise and set in her ways; she looks for sophistication and has confidence that one would not believe. She is a wife who spends her days staying youthful through weekly luxury spas and endless shopping. She is a powerful corporate woman whose appearance does all the talking before speaking a word. These

    women feel and are seen as gorgeous, intelligent, and ambitious. A G.I.A. Luxe handbag is seen as the one accessory on a woman that is the central object of desire. This one main desire expresses a woman’s style, personality, and status, but most importantly this handbag completes a woman’s look. G.I.A. Luxe strives to design for woman’s every façade. This contemporary designer handbag line is known for a bold textural palette of exotic leathers and suedes mixed with a sassy yet sophisticated color palette. British-Indian designer, Sheetal Patel, wanted to fulfill a niche market that caters to bold and sassy women, who desire quality “Manufactured in U.S.A.” handbags that offer attainable luxury at its best.

    If Sheetal said she grew up sewing clothes for her dolls as well as herself, she would be lying. As a little girl, she had no clue what she wanted to be. Sheetal remembers the days of growing up in London and watching The Clothes Show (UK) every week with her mother. However, at a young age, she already knew what type of woman she wanted to be; stylish and sassy with a pinch of sexiness, who dared to be unique for her own sense of style. Naturally, being an entrepreneur runs in the blood. Sheetal’s father moved the family to the U.S. so he could live his dream of owning hotels and subsequently, she takes her father’s ambition and uses it to live out her own. Fashion has always intrigued her, but it was not easy to get to this point. She first had to step out of the Indian norm of pursuing a career in pharmacy as her parents insisted. In order to find a common ground, Sheetal pursued a backup degree to show her parents she was being smart. By the age of 25, Sheetal had already graduated with two degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Merchandising with an emphasis in Marketing, followed by a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design.

  • Sheetal’s European taste is a result of being raised in London. The use of bold, rich colors is an influence taken from her Indian heritage. Her luxury taste is a reflection of having lived in the Middle East that coincides with the company’s mission to exemplify luxury through distinctive detailing, originality and quality while focusing on functionality. G.I.A. Luxe, however, is centered around Sheetal’s six year old daughter Gia (or in Sheetal’s world, “sassy pants”). She is not only an inspiration, but also a source of motivation. Sheetal remembers being at home playing with Gia. She was about one at the time and it suddenly occurred to Sheetal, Gia’s name alone makes a statement. While Sheetal was watching her play, she thought to herself what words to describe her. She broke her name down into an acronym; Gorgeous, Intelligent, and Ambitious were the perfect words to describe Gia.

    DESIGN PROCESS The choice of fine leathers and suedes are based on the same principles of the company’s mission. Sheetal is consistently on the lookout for exotic textural palettes of leathers and suedes that are complemented with bold, rich colors and style with engaging design. At G.I.A. Luxe, even the handbag lining is well thought out. The lining is chosen for its DWR (durable and water resistant) finish and for its easy clean up and stain resistant fibers.In sp

    • Showcased at WWD MAGIC Launch Pad, Las Vegas NV, as an Emerging Designer, Feb 2012. The launch pad identifies talent and helps assist designers through launching sustainable businesses in the fashion industry. The biggest tradeshow in the nation is the destination for everything fresh in young women’s fashion.

    • Won the Emerging Designer Competition on the nationally acclaimed online retailer www.zappos.com, Nov. 2012. Sheetal was recognized as the first Chicago based designer to appear on the site.
