Efficient Supply Chain ProcessEmerson has manufacturing plants and logistic resources all over the world. We deliver all of your solution components to a single Emerson facility or carefully selected local partner, for configuration and testing. All the equipment may also be integrated at this point. The complete solution is then delivered to the site, minimizing installation time.
Project Management Support Designing, building and integrating a containerized infrastructure solution is a complex task. Before the revenue generating electronics equipment can be installed, many different competencies need to be harmonized. Engineering, selection of subsystems, sourcing, installation and commissioning on site are some of the major factors. Emerson’s global network of skilled project managers will work closely together with you and your in-house experts, ensuring your Containerized Solution is built to your specifications. Emerson will be there throughout the entire process, from site inception, to operation and beyond.

Delivery
Minimize lead-time and coordination efforts with Containerized Infrastructure Solutions. By using a prefabricated shelter solution from Emerson, the interior layout can be determined before the site is selected. Engineering plans and building preparation can begin at site inception. After determining where to locate your shelter within the site, the foundation is constructed and the shelter is installed. This process is faster and more cost efficient than refurbishing an old site or building a new one. When multiple sites are involved, deploying buildings with similar infrastructure configurations saves time and money.

Containerized Solutions from Emerson are engineered from the inside out to guarantee trouble-free, reliable operation. All configurations are factory equipped, tested and commissioned with all required equipment, ensuring consistency, quality and speed to market.
Small node solutions are suitable for compact telecom sites, base stations for mobile networks, and digital transmission sites with space requirements up to 10m2 and power requirements up to 10kW. Emerson Network Power has designed and built nearly 1000 small node solutions for customers in Germany, US, Croatia, Bulgaria, Nigeria, Norway and Afghanistan. These solutions have been deployed in telecom, oil & gas and military industries.
Transportation Compact and cost-effective small node solutions are designed to fit inside standard, “high cube” freight containers for highway transportation. When transportation limi-tations or site access restrictions are involved, transporting assembled structures may not be optimal or even possible. In these instances, a flat package configuration may be the answer [see Figure 1]. Frameworks ranging from 8 to 20 feet are stacked together, reducing transportation volume by 25%. Interior equipment can be shipped separately when necessary.

A remote containerized infrastructure is common for slightly larger applications such as base station controllers and optical distribution nodes in the telecom industry, remote instrumentation in the oil & gas industry, and backbone networks in the IT industry. Typical equipment includes instrument and telecom cabinets, optical distribution frames, and transmission or server cabinets. Shelter sizes vary, but are often up to 150m2 with power requirements up to 40kW.
The remote Containerized Solution shown in Figure 2 was designed for the oil & gas industry and powered with renewable energy via solar panels. All equipment was installed and tested prior to shipment. This remote site includes DC power systems, batteries, A/C and heating systems, power and alarm equipment, fire extinguishing system and a generator for backup.

Mobile switching center interior
Switching & Control CentersIn telecom and IT networks, containerized solutions are designed for Mobile Switching Centers (MSCs), optical main nodes and cable landing stations. The oil & gas and mining industries use Emerson Containerized Solutions as automatic switchgears and control centers.
Switchgear rooms are designed to both de-energize equipment and clear faults. Switchgear equipment is found in substations on the high voltage and low voltage side of large power transformers. Low-voltage switchgear is usually housed in a substation called a “power distribution center”.
Control rooms are designed for the oil & gas, mining and chemical industries that operate 24/7/365. To keep systems up and running, many different types of power systems and equipment must be housed in a single control center.
To simplify transportation and future expansion, large solutions like this are often built in 30m2 to 50m2 modules that can be expanded on the ground level or stacked as multiple stories. The entire building is prefabricated in sections that can withstand transportation to remote areas with little to no infrastructure.
By using a pre-fabricated structure, the interior layout, engineering, and building preparation can be carried out irrespective of site acquisition. Equipment installation and testing is completed prior to shipment to ensure everything is in top-functioning order when arriving on site.
Containerized Solutions, like this modular, optical switching center, can be designed to match their surroundings or even stand out
against them. In this particular case, many of the houses in the area were red, countryside homes,
and the Containerized Solution was built to blend in with the local environment.

Energy Centers
Energy centers are small power stations with high power capacity for critical operation infrastructures. These fully redundant stations provide energy for various applications via power sources such as mains, gensets, UPS, batteries and DC systems. Energy centers usually house several UPSs, batteries and cooling equipment in addition to the critical customer equipment. There can also be DC power systems complemented with DC-AC inverters.
Large modular Containerized Solutions are often built in 30m2 to 50m2 modules that can be expanded on the ground level or stacked as multiple stories. The entire building is prefabricated in sections that can withstand transportation to remote areas with little to no infrastructure. These containerized solutions are designed to operate in extreme environments, offering quick deployment and easy installation.

Data CentersContainerized data centers for networks including telecom, IT, bank, oil & gas and other networks are designed to your specific requirements. These fully-redundant data centers traditionally house computer systems and associated components for telecommu-nications and storage systems. Typical equipment includes distribution frames (routers, switches, etc.), telecom and transmission cabinets, server racks and cooling equipment, UPSs and fire fighting systems.

Complete System IntegrationMost network electronic sites involve several dedicated systems in order to provide a safe and reliable operating environment for your equipment. Power supply, backup-power, surge protection and climate control are some of the most critical. Along with the customer equipment, these subsystems have to be engineered to work together, delivered for assembly in the same time frame, and commissioned as a united whole. This is where Emerson Network Power excels. With in-house, world-leading expertise in all of these areas, Emerson can coordinate the entire project, delivering your inte-grated shelter quickly and cost effectively. We ensure efficient project management, optimized system integration, and on-time delivery and commissioning.
