When the Cathedral installed a new sound system we linked it up with an app called “ Listen Everywhere”. This has been a great help to the people that need a little help hearing during Mass. Please contact Carolyn at [email protected] or (509) 358-4290 ext. 3# for more information on how to connect!

The celebration of Thanksgiving is fast approaching. On Thursday, November 26th I will offer Holy Mass at 10:00 a.m. for those wishing to attend in person – the Mass will also be live streamed for those at home. Please plan on joining your fellow parishioners that day as we thank God for the many blessings in our lives. I am aware that this coming Thanksgiving might be an especially difficult holiday given the COVID-19 plague. Ten months of this pandemic has left some

households with significant financial challenges and limited resources. We are in the process of pulling together a team of volunteers to put together Thanksgiving meals for parishioners who may need a little extra help this year. Do you know of a Cathedral parishioner or friend of the Cathedral who might appreciate groceries for their holiday meal? If so, please email me their name and contact information to my personal email address, [email protected] and I will make sure a Thanksgiving meal kit gets put together. If you would like to volunteer to shop for groceries, assemble the meal kits, or deliver them to households, please contact Darlene or Carolyn in the Parish Office (509) 358-4290 and they will give you information on how you can help. These Thanksgiving groceries will be paid for through your donations to the parish Poor Fund. If you would like to donate cash to the fund, please log on to www.SpokaneCathedral.com and click on the round blue button in the lower right hand corner of the home page. You may also send donations to the office or drop them in the wall safe near the elevator pavilion. I look forward to being able to help our brothers and sisters who may be suffering because of the plague. Let us invoke the prayers of Our Lady of Lourdes for all those who give of their time, talent, and treasure in making this Thanksgiving a little more special. Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. Darrin Connall, V.G. Rector

SACRED MUSIC SERIES TRUMPET AND ORGAN CONCERT

November 15, 2020, 2:00 pm

Enjoy the glory of brass and organ as Cathedral

trumpeter Chris Cook and organist Keith

Thomas present music from across the centu-

ries by Bach, Albinoni, Mouret, Bozza, and

others. Please join us on the Cathedral’s Face-

book page. The video will be viewable anytime

after 2:00 pm on November 15.

Is the Holy Spirit leading you to EWTN? On EWTN.com you can find schedules of programming. EWTN is a global Catholic Television, Catholic Radio, and Catholic News Network that provides catholic programming and news coverage from round the world.

During the month of November, the Church intensifies her prayers for the souls in purgatory. You will notice a stack of envelopes on the Cathedral Altar. Many of you have submitted these envelopes on which are written the names

of your loved ones and friends who have died. These names will rest on our altar throughout the month, and we pray that God will grant these people pardon for their sins and the reward of eternal light and peace. May they rest in peace.

Manger Project

The Cathedral parish will once again endeavor to make Christmas brighter for our local children in need beginning the first Sunday

of Advent. Our annual Manger Project will run from Sunday, November 29th to Monday, December 21st. Baskets will be placed in the back of the Cathedral containing tags with gift information. In order to ensure gifts are sorted and delivered in time for Christmas, please return unwrapped gifts to the Cathedral by Monday, December 21st. Thank you so much for your generosity this year and in years past.

Manger Project Volunteer Opportunities If you would like to volunteer your time to this year’s Manger Project, please contact Darlene Gaffney in the office at (509) 358-4290 ext. 3# or [email protected]. Help is needed on: Tuesday, November 24th - 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm (making tags), December 22nd - 10:00 pm to 12:00 pm (sorting gifts) December 22nd - 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm (delivering gifts).

Please pray for those attending our RCIA classes on Wednesdays.

Scriptural Reflection November 15, 2020 — Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time

PRV 31: 10-13, 19-20, 30-31; PS 128: 1-5; 1 THES 5: 1-6; MT 25: 14-30

We may long to hear the Lord say to us, “Well

done, good and faithful servant,” as He does with

the first two servants mentioned in the Parable of

the Talents in today’s Gospel from Matthew.

However, although the third servant did not

squander or waste the gifts (talents) he had

received, the Master’s reaction was not the same.

As we have often stated, stewardship is an active

way of life. There is nothing passive about it. The

Lord expects us to do things, to take the gifts we

receive and to share them and multiply them, as

was the case in the first two servants cited in the parable. If we really wish to hear the Lord say, “Well

done, good and faithful servant” to us when we are finally judged, we need to do something to earn that

praise. The key word in that sentence is “do.” There is nothing spiritual or abstract about being ready for

Jesus’ return and judgment of us. God has gifted us in a multitude of ways.

We need to recognize those gifts; acknowledge those gifts; be grateful for those gifts; and most of all use

those gifts to benefit the Church and others. What have we done with our time, our money, and our

abilities? In our Church we recognize and point to sins of omission — that is, things we did not do, but

should have. Like the first two servants in the parable, it is not just a case of preserving what God has

given us, it is a case of using it, increasing it, and returning it to the Lord.

A Film for All Families

Experience the power of prayer on November 20, 2020 when P: T S P+> P opens at the Village Centre Cinemas Wandermere (12662 N. Division St., Spokane, WA 99218). P is the inspiring true story of the man behind the famous phrase, “The family that prays together stays together.” Patrick Peyton was a poor Irish immigrant whose plan to become a millionaire was derailed when, through Our Lady’s intercession, he narrowly avoided death. He became a priest on a mission to promote the Rosary and all family prayer, whether through mass media in Hollywood or with huge Rosary rallies around the world. This film will amaze and inspire you! Tickets go on sale the week before its release. For more information visit the website: www.PrayTheFilm.com.
