TODAY’S FOOD MOVEMENT
Consumers care about where their food comes from and how it was produced.
Help us celebrate the bounty from the Southeast by supporting the farms, farmers and good food advocates helping feed the over 10 million North Carolinians and 87 million residents living in the Southeast. All while promoting your product or service!
The local, sustainable food movement is growing exponentially. The Healthy Eating, Nutrition and Weight Loss sector reached $648 Billion in sales in 2015; U.S. organic food sales were $90 Billion in 2016.
CHANGE FOOD’s model is that of WE - Working with and Empowering other groups and leaders who are creating lasting, positive food change from the ground up. Our goal is to educate consumers and provide healthy, safe, fair, delicious food for ALL.

THE EVENTWarren Wilson College (WWC) and Change Food are partnering to present The Change Food Fest: Regenerating Southern Food Systems, an evening of talks celebrating and exploring food and farming in the Southeast.
This is more than just an event. Together, WWC and Change Food are bringing together people, groups and companies working in some aspect of food - from farmers and producers to those using food as a means to solve social problems such as hunger, climate change, food waste, job creation, and building local economies.
Change Food will help forge connections and collaborations so that the Asheville and NC food movement can build a stronger Southeastern food community that can learn from each other and will last long beyond the Change Food Fest.
Change Food can return annually to co-host an event, or the Asheville/NC community can continue to build alliances through creating a similar annual get together.

CHANGE FOOD AND THE CHANGE FOOD FEST
● Change Food Video Library - Talks from events are housed in Change Food’s Video Library and promoted to consumers
● “Eating Real with Change Food” - Online show (in development) to help promote people, groups and companies highlighted at Change Food events as well as to educate and inform consumers
Change Food’s focus is twofold - First is educating and clearing up consumer confusion around food and farming. This is done by raising awareness about the people, groups and companies advancing healthy food and farming. Second is to build bridges and foster collaborations within the food movement. How we do this:
● Change Food Meets - Smaller community-building events for those in the food movement doing great work but not getting any - or enough - exposure
● Change Food Fest - Larger, national events geared toward both the food movement and interested consumers
15
CHANGE FOOD & CHANGE FOOD FEST GOALS
Goals include:
● Building community in the Southeast by facilitating networking and collaboration within communities and across all parts of the food movement
● Bringing more national exposure to the successful work of individuals, organizations and companies working toward a fair, healthy food system - with a focus on underrepresented, people and groups
● Raising awareness and lessening confusion with various aspects of food and farming
● Providing educational resources such as video and related materials to interested consumers across the country

● “Change Food is one of the organizations leading the American food movement. Diane Hatz has the ability to connect eaters, business, and policymakers to help create a better food system! I’m proud to have Change Food as a partner.” — Danielle Nierenberg, Co-Founder & President, Food Tank
● “I am in awe of Diane’s ability to identify pioneers and leaders in the food world, and bring them together to share their knowledge and passion with each other and the world. Diane’s events are powerful and inspiring. I am so grateful to be included in her Change Food ‘family' - people who are determined to help improve how we farm and eat in this country.” — Myra Goodman, Founder, Earthbound Farm
● “Diane Hatz is a tour-de-force in the food movement! She is my favorite person to name drop amongst foodies as she is revered by all for putting on the best events, being a great connector, never making anything boring or preachy, doesn't compromise with her vision and is the real deal in a fair weather food movement. She just needs to tell me she’s working on something and I would be behind her without knowing what it entailed; she is one of the few people really trying to make a positive difference for the right reasons!” — Henry Hargreaves, Photographer
● “I first met Diane through her work with TEDx and have stayed in touch with her for the last several years. It’s rare that I meet someone so truly fanatical about improving the food system – and so capable of translating her beliefs into meaningful projects and events. Diane definitely knows how to throw a party – from the guest list down to the napkins. And through her events and as a friend, Diane has introduced me to some truly amazing people, who are as passionate as I am about getting great food into the hands of everyone.” — David McInerney, co-Founder, FreshDirect
● "I don't know how Diane does it. She not only plans massive events but makes sure that every participant in them feels prepared, cared for and excited. Diane is tireless, committed to bringing people and organizations together for a greater good, and a master at all things marketing-related. If she chose to consult, companies would flock; rather, she chooses to use her tremendous gifts to propel others, build community and make change." — Alison Cayne, Founder & CEO, Haven’s Kitchen
