• Receive a presentation outlining the reasons for this proposal• Provide an opportunity for you to raise any queries that are not covered in the FAQs published on the consultation website

Please note that the six schools will seek to answer any queries collectively and will therefore provide answers after this event by adding to the FAQ published on the consultation website.

If you have any questions that you wish to ask or comments that you would like to share please contact us using the following email address: [email protected]

We look forward to receiving all contributions to this consultation since they will help the six schools develop the concept further and provide valuable information to guide future decision making. J. H Pullé D BennettHeadteacher, Wilmslow High School Chair of Governors, Wilmslow High School

NEWS

AreyouaPassengeroraPilot?Assistant Headteacher, Mr Vincent led this week’s assembly. He talked about how a chance meeting over Christmas with a former student (who he had taught 20 years ago) prompted him to reflect upon how much the school had changed and how important it is for students to be proactive and make their mark.

Mr Vincent talked about his early teaching experience, how the student had wished that he had valued his time at school more and had not simply ‘passed through’ school, but had taken more responsibility. Mr Vincent then went on to highlight how the school site would be seeing some more changes over the next couple of years, to accommodate increasing numbers. He also said that in response to Student Council feedback, that there would be an improvement in social spaces and toilets. Mr Vincent also referred to new housing developments such as the Handforth Growth Village which will bring longer term changes to educational provision in this catchment area.

YoungEnterpriseHighFlyers!

On Thursday the Business and Enterprise department took Year 12 Young enterprise students over to Ellesmere Port to take part in an enterprise workshop at the newly amalgamated Cheshire College. Guest speaker, Joe Bramall, Managing Director from the YE company that represented Cheshire at last year's regional final gave our team lots of tips on how to make impact with the judges when it is their turn to showcase their year in enterprise.

We were sorry to miss Jemma Davis (former Wilmslow High student and YE national finalist 2012) as, having now graduated from Sheffield Hallam in with a degree in marketing, in her role with Bentley Motors she continues to champion the Young Enterprise programme and will be presenting to YE teams at next week's skills workshop.

Topics covered: • How to improve presentation skills• The secrets of getting your points across during team interviews• How to create impact and impress judges with your trade stand• Top tips for writing and presenting company reports – an important element of the judging process

Following the workshop we received a tour of the fabulous West Cheshire campus including an opportunity to go on board the full size aircraft cabin and have a go at delivering the safety demonstration.

Inspired by the workshop, the facilities at the college and the McDonalds on the way home, ideas for enterprise were flying around the minibus.

Let's hope that the team, led by Georgia Sherrington will turn them into action in 2018!

SPORT

HockeyA tough morning for the junior hockey girls on Saturday as they welcomed Leeds Grammar over for the annual fixture. Despite competing well in tough conditions, the U12’s, U13’s and U14’s all lost to excellent, well organised opposition.

The U16 girls (right) were the pick of the bunch, putting in an excellent performance to claim a draw.Player of the matches were Beth Lomas (U12) Issy Green (U13) Jess Davidson (U14) and Sophie Ward (U16.)

FootballThe junior boys football teams made the most of a fixture free weekend and came into school for extra training sessions in preparation for the term ahead. There were over 60 U12 and U13 boys taking part in a mixed round robin tournament ran by Mr Herriott, with all boys playing at least 60 minutes’ worth of football with smiles on their faces. The U15 and U16 boys also took part in a training session, led by an academy coach from Sheffield Wednesday, alongside Mr Elston who put them through their paces for 90 minutes. With over 45 boys participating and fully focused, it was a very worthwhile exercise and promising for the football season ahead.

NetballOn Saturday morning the junior netball girls were in action against Altrincham Grammar who always provide a stern test. The conditions were not ideal, with freezing temperatures and strong winds making spectating less than pleasant! However, this didn’t seem to faze the girls at all as they managed a clean sweep of victories across the age groups.

Results were as follows: U16 won 35-24 U15 won 21-15 U14 won 25-13 U13 won 33-20 U12 won 18-10 On Wednesday the senior girls played two games at senior and U16 level, against very strong Sedbergh teams. Both matches were extremely exciting, with some great netball on show. In the end, it was Wilmslow who came out on top, with the seniors winning 26-24 and the U16 girls 34-22. Fantastic results!
