Conservation: We poured significant time and energy toward securing Botts Marsh, and we entered into positive discussions about securing Nedonna Marsh. We led energetic stewardship programs on our ten properties, enlisting the work of a small army of community volunteers who put in 463 hours to assist us with caring for our land. Other groups of students added 190 additional stewardship hours. (See “Education”) We also added the Neahkahnie Creek property to our list of Trust-held lands.

Community: Alder Creek Farm and its flourishing Community Garden represent the focus of community support for the citizens on North Tillamook County. In 2015-16, local volunteer gardeners put in a combined total of 4,711 hours planting, cultivating and harvesting 1,700 pounds of produce for the community, benefitting the North Coast Food Bank, as well as the Nehalem Senior Lunch program.

Education: Alder Creek Farm is a unique learning center. During 2015-16, the Farm hosted two middle school groups from Neahkahnie for a “day of service” through stewardship A third group of middle schoolers came from St. Mary’s School in Medford. They, too, volunteered at the Farm as a part their annual trip to explore the North Oregon coast. In addition, LNCT became a classroom for Tillamook County 3rd grade teachers who brought their students to the Farm for a “Down by the Creekside” science day. This was the first year that LNCT joined with other area non-profits to partner on “’Explore Nature” programming, inviting the public onto our lands to experience “Education through Recreation.”
