On Sunday, May 13 our guest speaker will be Rev. Tina Harris, Director of Mission, Service and Jusce Ministries for the Missouri Annual Conference.
Those who were present for the MLK Walk for Unity in January heard Rev. Harris
deliver a dynamic and powerful message — and she will bring no less to the
9 and 11 am worship services at Wentzville United Methodist Church.
We welcome Rev. Harris and invite all members, family and friends to a(end this special
morning of worship.
Also on Sunday, May 13 the CMU Chorale of Central Methodist University will provide glorious music during both worship services. Recognized and renowned throughout
the country, last year they performed in Washington DC, including Ge(ysburg, Arlington
Na-onal Cemetery, the Capital, The Holocaust Museum, area churches and a final concert at
the Na-onal Cathedral. This year the Chorale is planning a trip to Nashville, Tennessee where
they will sing at several churches, perform in the lobby of the Nashville Symphony, and sing a
variety of mini-concerts at different tourist venues. We are delighted to welcome them to
Wentzville United Methodist Church.

Dear Friends:
I am so excited for spring to fully arrive with warmer tempera-
tures and flowering plants that make our yards and public spaces so
beau-ful.
Chris and I had a wonderful vaca-on and look forward to our
daughter Sarah gradua-ng from college in May. She a(ends MIZZOU
and will receive her diploma on Mother’s Day. Woo Hoo is all I can say.
We are so proud of her.
The Sundays in May will be very special. May 6th
is our Jazz
Mass, and the Sanctuary Choir will offer four movements to make
worship unique and special as we prepare to receive Holy Communion.
Sunday, May 13th
is Mother’s Day and another great day of
worship as the CMU Choral from Central Methodist University will
offer their melodic voices. Rev. Tina Harris is our guest speaker. She is
the Director of Mission, Service and Jus-ce for our Missouri Annual
Conference. You will thoroughly enjoy Rev. Harris’ passion and voice in
spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Wednesday, May 9th
is our End of School and Spring Ministry
Church Dinner Extravaganza. We will have hot dogs, hamburgers,
baked beans, potato salad and home-made desserts as we cheer for
our students, staff and congrega-on. It’s been a great year of learning,
maturing and growing in Christ. Every so o>en we need to celebrate
our good effort and the joy found in being the body of Christ. I think
you are all terrific!
God bless us every one,

On Sunday, May 6th the Sanctuary Choir will present “A Little Jazz Mass”
during our 9 am worship service.
The Choir will sing four movements spread through the worship service:
Kyrie (choral introit); Gloria, (choral anthem); Sanctus (offering) and
Benedictus (choral benedic.on).
Joining the choir and Music Director Todd Oberlin will be David Hollenbeck,
drums; Jeremy Melton, piano; and Wade Murray, bass.
Invite your family and friends to a wonderful service of music and worship!
It’s not Karaoke or Open Jam… but it is a
great opportunity for YOU to provide Special
Music for our 9 am Sunday Worship Service while the Sanctuary Choir takes a break during
the summer. If there are solos, duets, trios,
quartets of any vocal or instrumental kind, we
would love to hear it. There is a sign up sheet posted on the Choir Room door and also on the bul-
le.n board in the church office. Available dates begin Sunday, 6/3 and run through Sunday, 8/26.
For the Nursery…
It takes YOU to offer excellent service to our infants and
toddlers!
Looking for a way to serve God and the church? Hop on
the “Volunteer List” and make a difference.
The Sunday schedule requires just a few hours of your
.me on a rota.ng basis. Contact Lana Nack on Sunday or through the church office (636-327-6377).
We would like to invite all families with children entering
Kindergarten through 5th grade in the fall to aCend a special cafe half hour on May 20th at 10:10 AM in the Children's Sunday
School room.
Together we will dream and discuss the best way to educate our
kids about God!
If you have ques.ons, concerns, sugges.ons or ideas we would
love to hear from you. All are welcome!

ingathering of needed items for the Nursery will be taken. All members of the
church are invited to bring items through Wednesday, May 9. There is a display

of the church are welcome to a(end the program. For more informa-on, contact

At 9 am on Saturday, May 12, Habitat For Humanity of St. Charles County will break ground on two new homes at the intersec-on of
Wall and Ball Streets in Wentzville (just down the
street from the church).
Breaking ground is one of the most moving mo-
ments in the life of a Habitat family. Although the
hard work is just beginning, it’s the start of the
“light at the end of the tunnel” for a deserving
family. If you have never a(ended, now is your
chance to witness a small miracle in progress.
Everyone is invited to a(end.
From Donna and Phil Norman…
We are overwhelmed with the prayers, love
and support shown to us in the last four
weeks—for Donna’s surgery and recovery,
and our son Stephen’s surgery and diagnosis
of liver cancer. We are recovering and doing
well and cannot thank you enough for the
cards and encouragement. Steve will begin
chemo treatment within the next week, and
we are so thankful for God’s tender grace
and mercies bestowed on our family. Thank
you from the bo2om of our hearts.

Mission MomentMission MomentMission MomentMission Moment
Our re-organized Adopt-A-Family Ministry has been in play for one year — and we have just begun! This
year has brought new projects, the chance to interact with new families, and, most of all, a sense of pride
and belonging as we minister to those less fortunate within our Wentzville community. Here is a quick
update on the successes we’ve enjoyed—and a taste of things to come!
August 2017
Back-to-School Project Our congrega-on helped provide hundreds of school supplies and clothing
items for 34 children and youth for the 2017-2018 school year
November 2017 Nurses’ Needs Program provides ongoing items to nurses within the Wentzville school district. Needed items include bo(led water, snacks, clean socks, and other things the nurses regularly run short of when
tending to students’ needs. We are working with Liberty HS, Holt HS, Pearce Hall, Fron.er Middle, South
Middle, six elementary schools (Peine Ridge, Discovery Ridge, Boone Trail, Duello, Lakeview, Stone
Creek), Barfield Early Childhood & Heritage Primary
Emergency Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets to 24 families
December 2017
Adopt-A-Family Christmas Project Our congrega-on helped supply clothes, toys, books and house-
hold items to 41 families and 124 children.
November/December Book Drive—50% of the books you donated were distributed with the Christmas
gi> boxes. Upcoming projects include the building of free libraries during our church’s S.T.E.A.M. Summer
Camp (formerly VBS). With the addi-onal books we have received, our bins are full. Thank you!
March 2018
Adopt-A-Family Easter Fair — On Saturday of Easter weekend, 50 children, their parents and
volunteers enjoyed a morning of Cra>s, Music, Stories, Snacks and an Easter Egg Hunt.
Our Literacy Team is working with school librarians to develop ways of gePng more of our donated books
into the hands of area students.
We are exploring Lunch Heroes in the Wentzville School District—to help lower-income students pay for
their school lunches.
We are talking with Jordan’s Place in Warrenton to see what support Adopt-A-Family can lend. Jordan’s
Place is a teen center for kids ages 13-19 with video games, a study room, and teen ac-vi-es.
Adopt-A-Family has a place for YOU! Interested? Contact Lisa Morgenthaler or Holly VanGundy
