4CS Facilitates Cañada College Classified Retreat

Strengthening your classified senate, classified impact on student success and the fun of teambuilding were the themes of the Cañada College classified retreat held June 27, 2008 at Palmer Holbrook Park in Ather-ton. The 30 participants were enthusiastic and engaged throughout the retreat and found great value in the

ideas and concepts shared by the 4CS facilitators. Benita Briones, 4CS President Elect, led the partici-pants through a group exercise focused on identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to various elements of their classified senate. The outcomes of which can be used by the senate mem-bers as they develop their comprehensive plan for the coming years. In another session, Julie Whiting, 4CS Past President, discussed the unique and powerful role played by classified staff in empowering our students for success from the moment they set foot on our campuses. Finally, Jim Wilson, 4CS President Emeri-tus, wrapped things up with a interactive team building exercise that had the groups problem solving, laughing , and over coming personal differences. Comments included “Excellent--lots of relevant info and ideas!! Fun! So much energy and enthusiasm. This is by far the best presentation we’ve had at a retreat!”
