Thoughts of the Season
“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the
trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that
life was beginning over again with the summer.”
― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
“Summer, after all, is a time when wonderful things can happen to quiet
people. for those few months, you’re not required to be who everyone
thinks you are, and that cut-grass smell in the air and the chance to dive
into the deep end of a pool give you a courage you don’t have the rest of
the year. you can be grateful and easy, with no eyes on you, and no past.
summer just opens the door and lets you out.”
― Deb Caletti, Honey, Baby, Sweetheart
“Spring flew swiftly by, and summer came; and if the village had been
beautiful at first, it was now in the full glow and luxuriance of its richness.
The great trees, which had looked shrunken and bare in the earlier
months, had now burst into strong life and health; and stretching forth
their green arms over the thirsty ground, converted open and naked spots
into choice nooks, where was a deep and pleasant shade from which to
look upon the wide prospect, steeped in sunshine, which lay stretched out
beyond. The earth had donned her mantle of brightest green; and shed
her richest perfumes abroad. It was the prime and vigour of the year; all
things were glad and flourishing.”
― Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist
“Summer is a period of luxurious growth. To be in harmony with the at-
mosphere of summer, awaken early in the morning and reach to the sun
for nourishment to flourish as the gardens do. Work, play, travel, be joy-
ful, and grow into selfless service. The bounty of the outside world enters
and enlivens us.”
― Paul Pitchford

From his book, Prosperity, Charles Fillmore gives us thoughts on manifestation:
“There is a law that governs the manifestation of supply, and we may learn that
law and apply it by mental determination and faith in the logical sequences of
spiritual realities. We have thought that the laws of God were mysterious and
sacred, far removed from the ordinary individual, and that we had better try first
to learn the laws of food, of medicine, of a thousand other secondary things. A
strict metaphysician looks on all these temporal laws as secondary to the one law
of God. That one law, we are told, is to be written in our heart, our inward parts.
Then there is something within us that naturally responds to the law of God. If
we accept this as true, that we know the one law by an inner intelligence and that
all other laws are secondary to it, we are in a position to get results, to demon-
strate prosperity.”
“Everything is right here, all that ever was or ever could be, simply waiting to be
brought forth into manifestation.”
Unity in Frederick tithes 10% of its unrestricted income every month as a way of expressing our belief in, and understanding of, the law of giving.

“Personal Garden of Eden for Healing” – a Guided Meditation
The season of growth is amazing to behold. This year in particular, the plants have exceeded expectations. They have had plenty of sun, warmth, and rain. In addition to that, we must remember they also have night time quiet to assist them to flourish. So, too, do we need quiet time to go within, reflect, release, and then clear our minds to receive messages from Source to assist with our own personal spiritual growth and healing. I would like to offer this guided mediation. You may want to record it so you can listen to it while meditating.
Settle into a comfortable chair with both feet on the floor and arms relaxed, knowing the chair will hold you effortlessly and securely. As you take 3 slow deep breaths, feel the calm spread smoothly from you head to your shoulders, and down through your body --torso, arms, legs -- all the way to your fingers and toes. Let all thoughts drift away as you begin to imagine your own personal healing Garden of Eden.
This from the Daily Word: “If I am not feeling my best, I remember …… wholeness is the divine blueprint for my mind, body and spirit. I use my power of imagination to envi-sion perfect health.”
Now, in your mind’s eye, see your garden just ahead. As you approach and enter your own personal Garden of Eden, notice that all you need for healing is there. Listen to the birds. See the butterflies and bees among all the beautiful, colorful flowers. There are so many things for your health: trees, vegetables, fruits, nuts, flowers, herbs and spices. A beautiful, accessible source of fresh water beckons you. Nearby is a quiet place to sit. Gently sit down. Going within, still your mind and connect with Spirit. Thank and bless each part of your miraculous body. Release any mental, emotional or physical re-sistance to complete healing. Visualize each bit of resistance surrounded by bright White Light. This healing gift from Source is now transforming that which no longer serves you into positive energy as you breathe deeply. Focused on wholeness, you are healed in mind, body and spirit. Repeat 3 times: “I am healthy in mind, body and spirit.” Believe it! Feel it! Live it!
Return to this space, keeping the vision of your garden with you. Take one more long deep breath and slowly open your eyes.
The nourishment you have received is always available in your garden. Remember, the healing power of Spirit is ever present. Express you gratitude to Spirit for healing wherever you are and for being able to imagine your garden anywhere and anytime you need it. It is yours for the asking. It is yours to cultivate health, making changes as needed. Use it freely!
Please remember the healing opportunities we have here at Unity, including the Healing Circle on the first Wednesdays at 6:30pm and the Healing Service on the third Sundays at 6:45pm.
We are looking for greeters to help at the Healing Circle. They will also have opportunities to receive a healing session while there. If you have any questions, please contact Linda Irvine at [email protected].
Many blessings to you.
With Much Love in the Light, Linda Irvine

“Music has always been a matter of Energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio.”
― Hunter S. Thompson

MusicMusicMusicMusic AppreciationAppreciationAppreciationAppreciation During the celebration of the birth of our nation, it is fitting that we at Unity consider
the location and meaning of another special place, the kingdom of heaven.
Traditionally, Christians teach that the kingdom of heaven is a place to which people who accept Jesus as their Savior go when they die. There is no authority in the Bible for such doctrine.
Instead, Jesus definitely located the kingdom of heaven when He said,“The kingdom of God is not coming with things that can be observed; 21 nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There it is!’ For, in fact, the kingdom of God is among you” (Luke 17:20, 21).
Jesus used many commonplace things to illustrate the establishing of the kingdom of heaven in consciousness in order that we might more easily adjust all our thoughts and acts in harmony with the ideas that make heaven. Jesus likened heaven to a man that sowed good seed in his field, to a mustard seed, to leaven, to a treasure hid in the field and to a net cast into the sea.
The kingdom of heaven is the orderly adjustment of divine ideas in our mind and body. We adjust our thought world to the kingdom of divine ideas through a process of denial by which we eliminate from consciousness all inharmonious ideas, and through affirma-tions of Truth by which we establish ourselves in harmony with divine ideas.
Heaven is not confined to man’s consciousness. It is everywhere present. When our mind and body are in harmonious relation to divine ideas, our true thoughts flow into the realm of manifestation and bring forth the kingdom in the earth as in heaven.
Happy 4th of July and happy development of the kingdom of heaven within you!

Youth Ed NewsYouth Ed NewsYouth Ed NewsYouth Ed News Spirit Camp was a great success this year! So much fun was had while we explored and learned about Native American culture. The kids’ transfor-mation project was drum making. They did the whole process from soaking the rawhides, stretching them over the drums, threading them, and they even made the beaters. It was amazing to experience this with the children and it taught us all about patience! Along with the drum making, the activities included learning about spirit animals, medicine wheels, trying Native American food (beef jerky was the favorite!), lots of arts and crafts, and a field trip to Fountain Rock nature center. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this such a great week! Planning for next year has already started! :)
The Youth Group Gatherings on the 3rd Fridays of each month for UniTeens and YOU’S will continue through the summer. They are continuing lessons on geocaching and will even be trying to find some. In July, they will be meeting at Ruby Tuesdays to enjoy dinner together and then head out for some geocaching.
Sunday school continues through the summer as well. Substitutes are needed for a couple of Sundays so please let Jamie know if you would like to spend some time with the kids one Sunday.
Mark your calendars for August 23rd! It is Unity’s Service & Picnic in the Park and the children will be a part of the service. Jamie Haney Youth Education Director

Unity is a worldwide, non-denomi-national spiritual organization that emphasizes the divine potential with-in every person. It teaches that, through a spiritual understanding and the practical application of what Jesus taught, every person can realize and express his or her divine potential for a happier, fuller and more successful life.
Five Basic Unity Principles 1. There is only one Presence and
one Power active as the universe and as my life, God the Good.
2. Our essence is of God; therefore, we are inherently good. This God essence was fully expressed in Jesus, the Christ.
3. We are co-creators with God, creating reality through thoughts held in mind.
4. Through prayer and meditation, we align our heart-mind with God. Denials and affirmations are tools we use.
5. Through thoughts, words and actions, we live the Truth we know.
What Is Unity? What Is Unity? What Is Unity? What Is Unity?
Unity in Frederick is a vibrant and inclusive
spiritual community, centered in God, making a
difference by living and sharing the empowering
principles of love, peace, and prosperity through
the expression of the Christ within.
