Overview of Program

DPUC awarded Ameresco contract to manage a 5MW energy efficiency program – launched program in June 2008

Wide range of Connecticut businesses and non-profits have already received payments for energy efficiency improvements

Ameresco Rebate to Customer: $300-$1000/kW based on project savings and

payback up to 100% of project cost – no cap on amount

paid per customer

Program Eligibility

Offer available on first-come first-serve basis, availability expected until June 2011

All CT electric-users eligible Technology:

Any energy efficiency equipment considered that creates demand savings during Summer AND Winter peak hours

Applies to retrofit or new construction Typical projects include lighting retrofit or

relamping, efficient motors, VFDs, etc.

Savings Requirements

Savings must occur during Peak Hours = June – August 1 PM – 5 PM December – January 5 PM – 7 PM Non-Holiday Weekdays

kW demand savings = kWH saved during Peak Hours/Peak Hours demand saved is adjusted for the percentage of time that

the new equipment is in use during peak hours (Coincidence Factor)

Verification of Savings

Measure and verify savings as required by ISO-NE Pre-installation inspection Post-installation inspection Sample <1% of measures each year for run hours (lighting

only) Document applying for permits and receiving permits, if any Sticker placed on equipment or electrical panel with toll-free

number for customer to call

Customer agrees to maintain savings through 2026

Process

Project Submission and Pre-approval Description of Existing Equipment to be Replaced Description of New Equipment To Be Installed Operating Hours of Equipment Signed Customer Agreement with Ameresco

Construction On-Site Pre-Inspection of Existing Equipment Verification of Operating Hours Installation by customer or customer-selected contractor On-Site Post-Inspection

Approval and Incentive Payment within 30 days

Opportunities

Ideal project examples: On 100% of peak hours No seasonality in energy savings Facilities not treated recently

> New technologies may make additional investments worthwhile for retrofits completed 3-4 years ago

Lighting projects for the following facility types:> Long-hour retail open past 7 PM> 2 shift manufacturer/warehouse with metal halide lighting> Large relamping projects >10kW> Outdoor lighting
