Message from the President Greetings! Good News-The Groundhog predicts any early spring. I think this is actually an alternative fact, so believe what you want. Spring will come when it does.

More good news you can really believe and use. The executive board met recently, and has some information to pass along.

The CT Chapter of EAPA is taking nominations for the next term of elected officers which will run from June 2017- June of 2019. This is a great opportunity to get involved at many levels of the organization. If you would like to be a member of the nominating committee, please notify me by Friday, February 10

th. Candidates will be nominated, and we will present a slate for

voting at the March Meeting. Actual voting will follow, at the April Meeting giving the newly elected members a chance to get acclimated to their positions.

Even if you have rarely come to meetings, your voice and input is crucial in the continued succession of the Chapter. Please consider nominating yourself, or someone else you think might be interested and able to serve. Currently we are looking for nominations for all offices. Three members of the board are interested in continuing in roles which is awesome because there is a learning curve and they are doing phenomenal work. HOWEVER-all positions need to be nominated by the committee and voted on, so this is a chance to add your voice.

President’s Note – continued The board has also decided to do a recognition luncheon for our members who have stepped up continually to support and promote the Chapter. All work is done on a volunteer basis, and some people spend hours behind the scene developing conferences and obtaining speakers for our monthly meetings, getting the credit certificates approved, sending communications, dealing with our banking issues, website, etc., etc.

We would like to add a position to head our marketing efforts, and would like a couple of volunteers to study what we need, how to do it, and decide if we use funds to do promotion. Currently we use no money on advertising. We know some of you have great ideas. Please share them with us. We are always open to new ideas and ways to stay relevant.

This is starting off to be a more unconventional year in administrations. We at EAPA can do new things too. However, we all get a vote, so please use this opportunity to voice comments, concerns, ideas, and to actually volunteer! I feel that I have been very blessed to have the opportunity to be on the board, and to meet and work with so many wonderful people. My position for next year is not up for a vote. I automatically get to be the immediate past president. I can always use as much guidance as I can get though.

I truly hope that you strongly consider this opportunity, and give thoughtful consideration to the nominations, and for stepping up. You will NOT regret the investment.

Please join us in February for our meeting on. 2/16/17.

Respectfully yours,

Becky Harris, MS, LPC, CEAP - Chapter President
