CONGRATULATIONS!! You made it to BC Calculus! I am looking forward to continuing to work with you during the 2017-2018 school year. In order to complete the curriculum before the AP Exam in May, it is necessary to do some preparatory work this summer. This packet will help you to focus on the mathematical skills and content you will need in order to be successful. These problems deal with certain skills and content that you have previously studied in Algebra 2/Trig and Honors Precalculus. You can use any notes you have to help you solve the review problems. There are also many websites on the internet that can be helpful in completing these problems, such as www.wolframalpha.com, www.khanacademy.org, www.purplemath.com, www.korpisworld.com Packets WILL BE COLLECTED on Wednesday September 6th. The assignment will count as a test grade in the first quarter. In order to receive full credit, you must complete the work on SEPARATE paper and you must show ALL work to justify your answers even if it is a multiple choice question. There is a blank answer sheet available for printing on my website, www.calcnerd.com , which can be used to help organize your work. A calculator may only be used on the indicated sections. At this level, doing homework is more than just getting the problems done it is part of the learning experience. Throughout the year we will be working together as a class to help everyone achieve their goals. So this summer I encourage you to work together with other classmates who will be taking the course with you. What could be better than doing Calculus at the beach? If you have any trouble with the assignment or just have questions or concerns, you can reach me by email at [email protected]. I will respond as soon as possible. I strongly recommended that you do a few problems each day throughout the summer. Do not leave the entire assignment for the night before school starts. Have fun and enjoy your summer. I will see you in September. Sincerely, Christine Rosado Mathematics Department Chairperson AP Calculus/Precalculus Teacher National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT)
