Trustee Nominations In accordance with Wisconsin State Law, each parish has two

lay trustees — the Trustee Secretary and Trustee Treasurer.

They serve as the legal Board for the parish along with the Pas-

tor, the Archbishop and the Vicar General of the Archdiocese.

Each lay trustee serves a two year term, which is renewable.

Our current trustees are Mr. Ignatius Smetek (Secretary) and

Mr. Gordon Giampietro (Treasurer). Fr. Peter has nominated

Mr. Gordon Giampietro as Trustee Secretary for a renewal of

term beginning July 1, 2017 and ending June 30, 2019. The

parish charter also allows any practicing baptized and con-

firmed Catholic member of the parish, at least 25 years old, to

be nominated in writing by ten or more parish members. Nom-

inations need to be received in the parish offices by Friday,

June 9th at noon.

Pentecost

This weekend we celebrate the great Feast of Pentecost – the final celebration in the Easter Season and the

great feast day of the Holy Spirit Himself. As you know, there are seven gifts that the Holy Spirit gives us.

St. Alphonsus Liguori composed a beautiful prayer to the Holy Spirit based on asking Him for these seven

gifts. It seems especially appropriate on this Pentecost Sunday to include it here in the bulletin:

Holy Spirit, Divine Consoler,

I adore You as my true God,

with God the Father and God the Son.

I adore You and unite myself to the adoration

You receive from the angels and saints.

I give You my heart and I offer my ardent thanksgiving

for all the grace which You never cease to bestow on me.

O Giver of all supernatural gifts,

who filled the soul of the Blessed Virgin Mary,

Mother of God, with such immense favors,

I beg You to visit me with Your grace

and Your love and to grant me the gift of holy fear,

so that it may act on me as a check to prevent me

from falling back into my past sins,

for which I beg pardon.

Grant me the gift of piety,

so that I may serve You for the future with increased

fervor, follow with more promptness Your holy inspirations,

and observe your divine precepts with greater fidelity.

Grant me the gift of knowledge,

so that I may know the things of God and,

enlightened by Your holy teaching, may walk,

without deviation, in the path of eternal salvation.

Postings from Fr. Peter

Grant me the gift of fortitude,

so that I may overcome courageously all the assaults of

the devil, and all the dangers of this world which threaten the

salvation of my soul.

Grant me the gift of counsel,

so that I may choose what is more conducive to my

spiritual advancement and may discover the wiles and snares of

the tempter.

Grant me the gift of understanding,

so that I may apprehend the divine mysteries

and by contemplation of heavenly things detach my thoughts

and affections from the vain things of this miserable

world.

Grant me the gift of wisdom,

so that I may rightly direct all my actions, referring them

to God as my last end;

so that, having loved Him and served Him in this life,

I may have the happiness of possessing Him eternally in

the next.

Amen.

Adoration Chapel

On the feast of Pentecost which we cele-

brate this weekend, we commemorate the

descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apos-

tles. The Holy Spirit is with us all days

and all ways. Don’t forget to call on Him

for help and give thanks to Him for all His

blessings. Pentecost marks the official end

of the Easter season; however, prayer is

always in season -- and each of us has

many reasons for praying! “Prayer is the

key that opens the heart of

God,” according to St. Padre Pio. What

better place to use this key and open your

heart to God than in the St. Mary’s Perpet-

ual Adoration Chapel? Jesus is there in the Blessed Sacrament

24/7 awaiting YOU! Visit Him often to offer your prayers --

whether they are for adoration, thanksgiving, contrition and/or

petition. Better yet -- join the Adoration Program and sign up

to spend a designated hour with Him on a weekly, bi-weekly, or

monthly basis. We need your help -- and we all certainly need

God's help in our daily lives. You choose the day and the hour

that are most convenient for you. Questions? Call the Parish

office: 262-782-4575.

We Need Coverage: Please note, any and/or all coverage appreciated! Sundays 1-2 am, Call Colleen Schwarz, 414-795-3153

Fortnight for Freedom As we have for the past five years, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee is observing a “Fortnight for Freedom” beginning on June 21st and

continuing until July 4th. This is a nationwide effort promoted by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). The theme this

year is “Freedom for Mission.” We are called to follow Christ as missionary disciples by seeking the truth, serving others, and living our

faith in all that we do. Let us take a few moments each day from June 21 - July 4 to pray, reflect, and take action on religious liberty,

both here in this country and abroad. To highlight the importance of promoting religious liberty, Archbishop Listecki will celebrate a

closing Mass on July 4, 2017, 9:00 a.m. at St. Monica Parish, 160 E. Silver Spring Drive, Whitefish Bay.

Nazareth Family Day at Holy Hill On July 9, 2017 the Office for Marriage and Family Life of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and the Basilica of the National Shrine of

Mary, Help of Christians are sponsoring Nazareth Family Day, a great opportunity for families to get together for Mass, picnic and activ-

ities at beautiful Holy Hill. Please help us spread the word! Families of all ages are invited to this special day which begins with the Sac-

rament of Reconciliation from 11:30 to 12:30pm, followed by Mass at 12:30pm. After Mass, join us on the parish grounds for great food,

games for all ages, face painting, outdoor games, balloon animals, bouncy houses for younger children and a rock-climbing wall for our

older children. Cost is just $25 per family! You can also register online at www.HolyHill.com. This event is cosponsored by the Basil-

ica of the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians, at Holy Hill, and the Office for Marriage and Family Formation.

Seminar on Opioid Abuse and Addiction The St. Francis Borgia Substance Addiction Ministry (SAM) will host Daniel Duffy, MD, from 7-8pm on Thursday, June 8 to learn more

about opioid abuse and addiction. Prior to the talk, please join us in the church for prayer for those afflicted and affected by substance

addiction from 6:15pm-6:45pm before the presentation. Everyone is invited to attend and learn more. St. Francis Borgia is located at

1375 Covered Bridge Rd., Cedarburg.

Capuchin Run-Walk for the Hungry The Capuchin Run-Walk for the Hungry, sponsored by Polish Fest, will be held Friday, June 16 at 7pm. Capuchin Community Services

has invited area parishes to form teams of runners and walkers to help feed the hungry. It’s a 5K run on USATF certified course, chip

timed and scored by CARRS or a 2 mile accessible walking route. Parish teams receive: early bird discounts for early registration; parish

team name on commemorative t-shirts; team photo; pre-event fun at Summerfest grounds, free admission to Polish Fest all three days.

Would you be interested in forming a team for SMV? If so, please contact Mary Sue Protz, 262-782-4575 or [email protected].

SMV Youth Ministry Summer & Fall Teen Service Activities St. Mary’s Visitation’s Youth Ministry program has opportunities for activities coming up this summer and fall. If interested, please

contact Elizabeth Harrison, [email protected] to discuss specific dates available.

Plunge/Immersion Experiences The St. Ben’s Community Meal site offers two plunge/immersion experiences. SMV teens can do either one or both of these activities

this coming summer or fall.

Justice Orientation - 2 hours St Ben’s Community Meal hosts Justice Orientation reflection groups as a way of orienting and educating participants in service with

the homeless and hungry population of Milwaukee. This opportunity is done in conjunction with the meal from 5-6:45pm and usually

involves an orientation to St Ben’s Ministries, a chance to eat and talk with the meal guests, and a prayerful reflection afterward. This

experience typically takes about an hour and a half to two hours. A donation of $25 and a collection of hygiene supplies or cold

weather wear is appreciated to cover staff time. Groups of 5-15 people are welcome with one adult chaperone for every 10 minors

participating.

Urban Plunge - Overnight The urban plunge is an overnight experience intended for high school or college age students, groups of 5-15. This immersion experi-

ence usually begins on Friday night with participation in the community meal, followed by a period of reflection and discussion. Sat-

urday is spent visiting various agencies that minister with the homeless, including shelters, drop in centers, and community service

programs. This weekend experience can be tailored to the needs of the group and can be a one or two night event. Students provide a

sleeping bag, towel, and personal items; St Ben’s provides floor space for sleeping and will arrange for meals. A donation of $20 per

person per night is suggested to help defray the cost of food, staff, and utilities.

High School Expedition A high school expedition retreat is three nights, four days in the summer and two nights, one full day in fall, winter and spring. Expe-

dition retreats include: tasty food, evangelization, transportation, rustic and rugged lodging and some good 'ol fashioned Catholicism!
