Remarks from the President/CEO

We have enjoyed, endured, enlightened, and evolved over this past few months. If we thought that things were “fluid” the last time, then you know they were really “HOT” this past quarter. NO, I am not talking about the 101º (yes here in Virginia) temperatures that we endured but the surge here at JLMI that we successfully triumphed. We have evolved into the serious business entity that we’ve known we were for a while. Now, it is unavoidable for others to be enlightened about our status also.

Because of the hard work of Team JLMI, we have been blessed with the additional members that have joined us. I am sure that they have already enjoyed the camaraderie of the JLMI team, however, change is a double edged sword. We are saddened to have to say goodbye to our friends in WAPA. We will miss you all and wish only the best for each of you.

In celebration of my 8 years with JLMI, I am proud to say that I endured, evolved ,was enlight-ened, and actually enjoyed an event. I SUCCESSFULLY completed a 10K walk – something that I had not done since my retirement from the Army (a couple of years ago ☺ ). The inner strength that I gained from doing that far outweighed the anguish that I had prior to the start of the event. So take a chance, do something that will make you feel good about yourself. Enjoy your summer and PLEASE be safe.

As always, thank you for your support. It is still hectic here at Corporate and it will be for a while, but that’s not a bad thing, it is GROWTH, and we like that.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all the new employees to the JLMI family. It is our pleasure to have you as part of the family. Our intent is to ensure that our employees are satisfied with the overall company environment and that will ultimately lead to a satisfied customer. A satisfied customer is a major contributing factor in the success of JLMI in the future.

Thanks to all who participated in the all hands meeting on 16 June 2008. The all hands meetings were designed to allow JLMI employees the opportunity to collaborate with the corporate headquarters, quarterly. The quarterly meeting is not to exceed an hour in duration. I personally look forward to the all hands meetings to have the op-portunity to discuss your concerns. By no means is the all hands meeting the only avenue by which an employee has at their disposal to voice their concerns. Employees should start with their Team Leader and or Supervisor/Manger with their concerns and if not satisfied at that level the corporate Human Resources Director is always available.

JLMI continues to grow at a moderate rate and with growth it is imperative that additional management structure be provided to accommodate process enhancement. In many cases growth requires adding additional processes to be put in place to handle the workload. These new processes should be transparent to the employee; however, there may be instances where the process is not at 100% and your request for action and or questions are not be-ing addressed adequately or in a timely manner. It is incumbent upon the employee to surface the matter to his/her leadership for resolution and changes to the process. Developing and changing processes in a growth surge can be very taxing on the staff, but is our intent to get through this growth surge as painless as possible for our employees.

JLMI is very thankful to the following business partners: 18th ABC; PM LIS; ACS Fort Lee; ACS Fort Benning; ACS Fort Gordon; Northrop Grumman (Mentor Protégé/GCSS-A/PBUSE); IBM; McLane Advanced Technolo-gies; Eagle Group Int’l and CIBER. These business partners have been instrumental in the continued growth of our company.

Keep the team spirit, stay focused on your mission and continue to provide our customers 100% satisfaction at all times. Remember that “a satisfied customer generates repeat business.”

Remarks from the Vice President of Logistics Solutions

The company has more than doubled in size since I arrived and the nature and complexity of the contracts have also continued to evolve. Today, we have a mix of contracts in new geographic areas with added job skills. The diversity, complexity, skills and geographic dispersion of our employees continues to grow. Each new contract has not only brought growth but it has added to the dimensions of our workforce. Any success we have had was built on the successes of each and every employee.

I would like to call attention to a couple of recent successes and the employees that made them successful. Let me start with the first Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) Warfighter Forum held at FT Bragg. This was a virtual meeting of more than 40 IBCT commanders, Division Commanders chaired by the 18th Airborne Corps Com-mander. The intent was to tie in over 90 sites worldwide from Hawaii to Afghanistan to provide lessons learned for the TRADOC community to rewrite doctrine and tactics, techniques and procedures to improve the IBCTs for the future. Coordinating and organizing the communication to successfully pull this off was a monumental task. JLMI’s Tony Bell not only successfully accomplished this task but he did it in such a humble, unassuming and selfless way that it drew praise from every quarter of our customer base. Kudos to Tony!

There are those who consistently deliver high quality service to our customers day in and day out, Kevin Davis ,lead analyst supporting the 23rd Brigade also received acknowledgement from the Brigade Executive Offi-cer on the quality of the support he was receiving. Kevin’s team consisting of Conchita Sellers and Ervin Felton, continually provide the highest level of support to their customer.

Obviously, there is a lot of great work going on in the company and it would be impossible to acknowledge every-one but on occasion I would like to recognize those who our customer recognize. Pleasing the customer should be our number one goal.

Brian E. Wood Brian Wood– VP of Logistics Solutions, along with team members from the first IBCT Warfighter Forum and the Strategic Plnning and Modernization Support Teams at Ft. Bragg.

The six (6) hour course provided an overview of the CMMI model and structure. CMMI is a process improvement that offers an organization the essential elements of effective processes. This approach can be used as a guide towards improvement across

Women Impacting Public Policy is proud to spearhead the creation of the Women Business Owners’ Economic Blueprint for the incoming Administration and the 111th Congress. The Blueprint, which culminates months of research and planning, will be presented at both the Republican and Democratic Conventions, and before the Senate’s Small Business and Entrepreneur-ship Committee, and to members of Congress on September 9th. It will be an important resource on the interests, attitudes and policy concerns of women business owners. It will tell our story ‐ starting with the Women Business Owner’s Act of 1988 which established the Women’s Business Cen‐

ters program, and gave us a seat at the table through the creation of the National Women’s Business Council ‐ to the docu‐

mentation of our economic power and strength ‐ to the issues that touch us today ‐ and it will give us a peak into our road‐

map for the future.

The Blueprint is the voice of our community of women business owners as well as supporting small business associations.
