It is also a new MEDIUM for retailers to reach thousands of potential customers who travel near each of their stores, anywhere on the globe, at all times.

Ping4Deals (P4D) is a mobile application that enables retailers to connect directly to users’ smartphones, communicating deals directly to them within a 5 mile radius of their store.

No smartphone ? users can request local deals when they connect through any Wi-Fi hotspot and then check “x.ping4,com” in their phone’s browser for that hotspot.

P4D can offer the deal of the moment or minute versus others that can only offer one deal a day.

How does it work?

Students download the free app to their smartphones or access P4D using a web browser.

Merchants who use P4D can send promotional messages when they choose, announcing deals or specials. Students view or listen to the messages and can be directed to the store location.

Users preselect their categories of interest, setting preferences on the application or they can find the local deals around them from “x.ping4.com”

P4D includes “DealSpeak” which offers text to speech to keep drivers safe while communicating the deal in real time.

The merchants and vendors in and around UNH can reach the thousands of students who are on campus at any time at any interval communicating specials or deals right to their smartphone.

This needs rework because coverage will be both Wi-Fi and GPS. GPS out to 5 miles for smartphone users (Note, it is the user who decides radius of reach, not the merchant) and 300 ft for Wi-Fi where the browser request for x.ping4.com will redirect to that Merchant’s deals page. Why would they need a separate network ?

UNH will need a separate WiFi LAN.

Merchants will need WiFi if they are not in the University’s reach

The WiFi hotspots have unique external IP addresses which precisely identify the particular physical location for the internet and for local address
