    The Offices of Christ

As our Redeemer, Christ fills the offices ofprophet, priest, and king.

Christ is a prophet in that he reveals Gods

will to us by his word and his Spirit. Christ is a priest in that he is our only

    mediator, sacrifice, and intercessor before

God. And Christ is a king in that he has absolute

    authority over our lives.

So it came about in the course of timethat Cain brought an offering to the LORD of the fruitof the ground. Abel, on his part also brought of the

Heb 10:1-2: For the Law, since it has only a shadowof the good things to come and not the very form ofthings, can never, by the same sacrifices which theyoffer continually year by year, make perfect thosewho draw near. Otherwise, would they not have

by year with blood that is not his own. Otherwise, He would haveneeded to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but nowonce at the consummation of the ages He has been manifestedto put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And inasmuch as it isappointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, soChrist also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many,
