Status

* Concrete Repair Report was published in August 2013.

* Included 40 recommendations for:

* Revisions to standards.

* New standards.

* Revisions to NRC regulatory documents.

* Research that is needed.

Status

* Follow-up activities:

* Pulled from the report each recommendation and the appropriate organization to address (SDOs, NRC).

* Identified 4 primary SDOs and points of contact for each:

* ACI, ASTM, ICRI, ASME

* Fran Schrotter had a preliminary conversation with each SDO.

* Letters were sent to each in September, including attachments.

Key Points in Letter

* The NESCC’s Concrete Repair Task Group recently published a report, entitled, “Codes and Standards for the Repair of

Nuclear Power Plant Concrete Structures: Recommendations

for Future Development.” The report is provided as Attachment A.

* We are seeking your organization’s engagement in assessing how the recommendations can be effectively implemented and in planning a path forward. We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you about this either in person or via conference call ….

Key Points in Letter - Continued

* In preparation for that discussion, Attachment B contains items specific to your organization that have been extracted from the task group report for your convenience. Along with those items, it may be helpful to consider the following:

* Significance of the issues and recommendations to your organization.

* Feasibility of and potential issues with implementing the applicable recommendations by your organization.

* Relationship of these recommendations to other efforts in your organization (or that you are aware of), and the relative priority you would place on the recommendations.
