We have a nationwide network of concrete plants that are staffed by experienced and expert personnel that include , batchers, despatchers, drivers, sales reps and quality control technicians that are dedicated to providing a quality product and service to our customers.

All our concrete plants are certified to produce concrete in conformance with the national and international concrete standard I.S. EN 206 and we also operate a quality scheme in accordance with I.S.O. 9001. Both systems are independently audited by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (N.S.A.I.).

Using local materials such as aggregates, sand and cement along with a local labour force our concrete is designed and produced to meet and exceed the specific requirements and to deliver high performance, durability, longevity and value throughout its service life.

Sometimes referred to as visual concrete, fair faced finish or special finish, architectural concrete is designed and required to have a more visually pleasing appearance compared with a basic concrete finish.

Architectural concrete demands careful selection of materials and requires a reasonably high cement content to achieve a rich concrete matrix that will in turn give an improved and consistent surface finish both in texture and colour.

In achieving an architectural concrete finish the selection of the formwork type, release agent, workmanship in placing, compacting, curing and protecting the concrete are vital elements to achieving the desired quality of finish.

Roadstone fast-set and rapid hardening concrete is specifically designed to allow for quick setting and faster finishing of concrete any time of the year but particularly in colder winter conditions.

The mix has similar slump, strength and placing characteristics to normal concrete and requires no special treatment other than an organised placing plan to take advantage of the improved setting time.

These fibres are used to enhance the concretes performance both in the fresh and hardened state. Fibre reinforced concrete can be placed, pumped or sprayed using conventional equipment as per normal concrete.

Fibres are normally added at the batching stage and are uniformly distribution throughout the concrete giving full reinforcement throughout the full depth of concrete.

Polypropylene fibres

Polypropylene Fibres are primarily used for reducing plastic shrinkage, increasing fire resistance and also as a means of secondary (crack control) reinforcement to replace light mesh. Polypropylene fibres are not designed to replace structural reinforcement.

Macro-Synthetic Fibres

Macro-Synthetic Fibres are non-magnetic, non-corrosive polymer fibres with a contoured profile. They are specifically designed to increase impactresistanceandflexuralstrengthof concrete and can be used as an

The mix contains a high and stable mass of air that reduces the density and significantly improves the placing characteristics giving it self-compacting characteristics with no requirement for vibration. Because of the high air content Foamed Concrete has excellent insulation, sound-absorbing and fire-resisting properties.

Concrete is ideally suited to fill voids where limited , difficult or unstable access is a problem such as disused vaults, sewers and pipe lines or for neutralising redundant petrol/diesel storage tanks where gas and fumes within the tank are displaced by the foamed concrete rendering the tank safe.

Trench reinstatement up to 50mm of final road level is another common application with the advantage of speed of placement, no settlement, no compaction necessary and ease of subsequent excavation if required.

Also referred to as no-fines, porous or permeable concrete, this concrete uses the same raw materials as normal concrete except that the fine aggregate or sand is removed entirely. Our mix designprocessusingsinglesizedcoarseaggregate of 20, 14 or 10mm with strict control of the cement and water contents results in reduced particle packing potential with a stable void content that is highly porous allowing fast draining of surface/storm water directly back to the substrata or the sub base drainage system.

The pervious concrete acts like a sieve that quickly absorbs and drains water away from saturated car parks, roadways, footpaths and civil engineering works making them safer and less pronetofloodingorfrostdamage.Pervious concrete can also be used as a lightweight infill or overlay material. The thermal conductivity is approx. half that of normal concrete, giving excellent insulation characteristics. Coloured versions of our pervious concrete are also available which enhance the aesthetic nature of the product.

All our sand and cement screeds can be modified to come reinforced with polypropylene fibres to improve the performance of the screed and or the setting time can be retarded for up to 10 hours so that the amount of screed material for a full days screeding can be delivered to site in one drop. There are many applications where this traditional type of screed is effective and it is ideal forsituationswherethefloorislaidtofalls, such as wet rooms that contain drainageslopeswithinthefloorarea. The screed is weigh batched and mixed in our wet batch plants and can be collected ex works or delivered to site in tipper or concrete trucks ready for laying.

Depth of screed can vary depending on the type of system and end use; Bonded screed depth = 40mm and is laid on shot blasted or mechanically scabbled base and bonded with an adhesive such as PVA, SBR, Epoxy or cement slurry laid wet on wet.

Sand and Cement Floor Screeds are a more traditional and well established screed option comprising of washed sand and cement mixed at ratios of 1:3 to 1:6 with a 1:4 mix being the most common.

Unbonded screed depth = 50mm, laid on a DPM to intentionally debond the screed from its base. Floating screed depth = 75mm, laid on a DPM that is overlaid on insulation (commonlyusedforunderfloorheatingsystems).

In all cases it is recommended that internal pillars, islands, internal walls and surrounding walls should be isolated using a 10 to 20mm wide strip of edging foam or insulation, to the full depth of the screed.

Screeds must be protected against moisture loss and it is essential to ensure immediate curing by using a suitable curing membrane, covering with plastic or spraying with water.

Sand and cement screeds are not meant to be wearing surfaces and should becoveredwithanappropriatefloorcovering. Screeds should be fully dried before being covered.

Slipform concrete construction is a method of producing a concrete element or structure using a slow but continuously moving formwork, shutter or paving/kerbing machine.

The concrete is placed into the formwork or machine which moves either vertically orhorizontallywhiletheconcreteisextruded from the formwork or machine to produce the desired concrete profile.

This technique utilises the setting characteristics of the concrete with a closely controlled concrete consistence to achieve sufficient concrete set and strength to allow the formwork or machine proceed without damaging the extruded concrete behind it.

The two main types of application for slipform concrete are tall buildings, towers or lift shafts in the vertical orientation and median barriers, kerb, channels and pavements in the horizontalorientation.Eachapplicationwould have its own unique concrete mix design to suit the particular requirementsofthetype, sizeandspeedof slipform work.

The most notable advantages of slipforming is the speed of construction andthejointlessmonolithicstructurethat results.

Using integral water resisting concrete admixtures that are added at the batching stage, a highly impermeable concrete is produced with low water absorption, increased crack resistance and significantly reduced drying shrinkage.

The passage of water (as well as chlorides and sulphates) is significantly reduced by the pore blocking nature of the system, resulting in a much greater degree of durability and imperviousness in the concrete. Additionally the placing and compacting of the concrete is also enhanced with the provision of an S3 consistence class.
