We have a new schedule for Worship Sunday School Confirmation and our church
activities beginning next Sunday Over the Spring and Summer months we have been engaged incarefully evaluating the schedule of Sunday activities worship times music and liturgy curriculum forSunday School and Confirmation Adult education and leadership roles for Concordia Wersquove givenspecial attention and focus to what wersquore hearing from teachers and parents about Sunday Schoolmembers and visitors about worship church leaders both at the Seeley and Whipple sites about
proclaiming our values Wersquove discussed how we make our church a welcoming place Wersquovelooked at how worshipfaith formation for children and adults and fellowship have developed at our
Whipple location
We value the rich offerings of our traditions and at the same time considered ways thatwe can share our heritage in new ways The schedule and plans we will offer this Fall reflect ourintentional planning centered in our mission and cores values Concordia is a place for everyone

Worship on Sundays will continue at the times we have started this summer 830 AM Spoken Service in Church Chancel 1000 AM Full Festival Worship Service
New this Fall will be a change in the worship service with Sunday School classes for
children ages 3 to 12 held during the 10 AM Worship service The service will begin with theChildrenrsquos sermon and children will accompany teachers to their classes during the service They will
return to church for Holy Communion We will again use the ldquoWhirlrdquo curriculum with Bible video storiesand lessons based on the worship themes for each Sunday
New this Fall will be a class offered for parents and younger children under the age of3 We will use a new curriculum developed for this age group ldquoFrolicrdquo with an emphasis on faith
formation tools for parents to use at home in raising their children More information will be comingsoon
New this Fall will be a special ldquoWorship For Allrdquo Service once a month usually on thefirst Sunday of each month On these Sundays instead of children going to class with their teacherseveryone will participate in a special service at 10 AM The liturgy will be ldquofamily friendlyrdquo that is the
service will include the participation of adults and children The first ldquoWorship for Allrdquo service will
be on Homecoming Sunday September 18th (out of order already) to welcome everyoneback for the Fall schedule On this Sunday the theme is the Parable of the Prodigal Son and a specialskit performance is being prepared to tell the Gospel in a unique and hopefully engaging way and plans
are underway for special songs and a ldquolearningrdquo liturgy of Holy Communion
New this Fall will be a very different Confirmation curriculum for the six students whobegin their faith journey this year The emphasis in this new curriculum is on faith formation forteens in these formative years We learned about this successful model from several other congregationsthat have been using it over the past few years Rather than have students memorize the core doctrines of
our traditions students learn through an interactive approach of short videos with questions fordiscussion This very best and new feature of this approach is that they take the classes with their parentsmdashthe first and primary teachers for their childrenrsquos faith development Confirmation classes will consistof 6 week sessions with two Confirmation projects between sessions We will use the ldquoReshyFormrdquo
curriculum and this begins October 2nd
New this Fall Adult forums will be offered beginning in October between the worshipservices starting at 9 AM Topics that have been suggested include Biblical study of the Sundayreadings faith formation and leadership development using the ldquoReshyFormrdquo video series for group
discussion (one church we spoke with said they had adults who didnrsquot have confirmation students whowanted to sit inmdashand they turned it into a very engaging adult forum with over 40 members

childcare need in the Ravenswood Community and will increase Concordia Placersquos ability to serve thosewho need us most To make this happen Concordia Place has embarked on fundraising campaign to
support the current operating needs of Concordia Place and the capital expenses of Concordia Day With
the opening of Concordia Day on August 2nd the GO (Growth amp Opportunity) Campaign will officiallylaunch to the public Many Concordia Lutheran Church members have already made their pledge to this 3
year campaign Over $720000 has been raised to the overall goal of $1805000
As a congregation we hope to do our part by raising $275000 towards the overall goal To date morethan 92 of that goal has been donated by Concordia members
