COMSATTeleports Wholly owned teleport facilities are strategically positioned to provide global uplink and baseband co-location services.

TeleportsCOMSAT’s wholly owned teleport facilities in the United States and partner teleports in Europe and Southeast Asia are strategically positioned to provide global, secure uplink and baseband co-location services to complement our space segment offerings. COMSAT has been providing dynamic and reliable network solutions for over 40 years. We support customers across a multitude of industries, including Government, Maritime, Oil+Gas, Utilities, Video, and Enterprise, and we have the flexibility to provide customized solutions to meet specific requirements.

COMSAT owns and operates two commercial teleport facilities in the United States. Our Southbury teleport is located on the East Coast, about 60 miles north of New York City and our Santa Paula teleport is located 90 miles north of Los Angeles on the West Coast. Each teleport has operated continuously since 1976. Both facilities provide secure equipment collocation, uplink services for government and commercial satellite services, and Inmarsat mobile satellite services. Our teleports are provisioned with state-of-the art fire suppression systems, fully redundant power and environmental systems and diverse fiber terrestrial connectivity.

Both COMSAT teleports operate in accordance with the U.S. National Industrial Security Program (NISP). The security of the teleport is administered by an on-site Facility Security Officer (FSO). The entire perimeters of both teleports are protected by fencing with exterior lighting. Each facility is equipped with intrusion detection systems as well as High Definition Video Surveillance Systems and Access Control Systems designed to control movement through the entire grounds and buildings to ensure the safekeeping of the personnel and equipment contained within.

COMSAT’s most valuable asset is its personnel. COMSAT employs full time engineers and technicians on staff at each of the teleports to maintain the antenna systems, power systems, environmental systems, terrestrial systems, facilities and all of the additional equipment supporting the infrastructure according to a preventative maintenance schedule using on-site spares and contract labor if and when necessary. Eighty five percent of COMSAT’s teleport technicians are veterans, and each has passed and is required to maintain in good standing an FCC GeneralRadio Operators License. Aside from routine Radio Frequency (RF) and Information Technology (IT) training, all technicians receive annual training and certification in: First Aid / CPR / Defibrillator, Fire Extinguisher and Suppression Systems, (ESD) Electrostatic Sensitive Devices, and Security Awareness training (National Industrial Security Program-NISP).

Services include:

• Uplinking and downlinking for government and commercial customers

• Backup/Disaster recovery hosting

• Equipment Co-location

• Data Center / Cyber Security Solutions

• Network Backup for Business Continuity

• On-site standalone network services
