How to Log in to your Tulsa Tech Computer 1) First, push the power button to turn your computer on. 2) Wait for the log in box to appear. Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete to access the username and

password screen. Your username is usually your first initial, middle initial, last name, all in lower case letters. For example, David Lee Smith would be dlsmith. Your instructor will provide your username and make sure everyone can log on correctly during the first week of school. Your initial password will be the following: Windows1. (It is case sensitive.

3) Press the OK button to finish logging in. 4) Once you have logged in for the first time, you will be asked to change your password.

Your new password must include at least one capital letter, one lower case letter, one number and must be at least 6 digits long. Keep it simple so that you won’t forget it. You will also want to have 4 or 5 other passwords that are similar to your first one because you will be required to change it regularly.

For instance:

How to Log on to Blackboard1) First, look at your computer desktop, find the Internet Explorer icon, and open Internet

Explorer. The Tulsa Tech homepage looks something similar to this.

2) Click on the word Blackboard which you will find in the lower right corner of the homepage in the column labeled “Links.”

3) Next, enter your Blackboard username and password. Your username should be the same as your Tulsa Tech computer username and your password will be your 6 digit birthday.

(You will NOT CHANGE the password. It should always stay your birthday)

4) After you have logged in, you should be enrolled in your instructor’s Blackboard site. When you click on your instructor’s class title, you will see the individual courses for the program listed on the left-hand side of the page. Your teacher may have requested your enrollment in the Academic Center Blackboard site.

5) Each course will have its own sub-sections to access the required material for each course.

NOTE: If you need to log in from home you can either pull up the Tulsa Tech home page and click on Blackboard there or type: http://tulsatech.blackboard.edu.

DO NOT use ‘www’ in the web address.

Outlook-(Your Tulsa Tech e-mail)You have a Tulsa Tech e-mail account. Your e-mail address starts with your username (the letters you type to log on to a Tulsa Tech computer). Remember David Lee Smith on page 3. His username is dlsmith so his e-mail address is dlsmith@students.tulsatech.edu. You can e-mail other students or your instructor.

After clicking on “new” click on “To” and all students’ and all instructors’ names come up in a list.

How to Log on to Tech Advisor1) Open Internet Explorer. At Tulsa Tech it automatically opens to the Tulsa Tech

homepage. If you are at home, you can type www.tulsatech.edu to bring up the homepage. At the bottom on the homepage in the links column (along with Blackboard) you will find Tech Advisor.

After you click on Tech Advisor, this is the page that comes up. You are a student so you click on the black box that says “Students.”

2) Your login username should be the same as your Tulsa Tech login, and your password should be your 6-digit birthday (for example, 092795).

You can check your grades and your attendance.

The first time that you use Tech Advisor you should click on “My Profile” to make sure that your address and telephone numbers are listed correctly. (You never know when there might be a power outage in the morning and the PM classes have to be canceled. You want to be notified!)

How to Access Brainbench

Brainbench is an on-line testing system that provides you with an available certification testing element.

Prior to setting up your Brainbench account, you are required to create a Professional email address to be use throughout this year. You may use yahoo, gmail, etc. Please use the following for your username: first name_lastname@(& the IP address you have chosen to use).

To create an account in Brainbench:

1) Open Internet Explorer. Your window automatically opens to the Tulsa Tech homepage. At the bottom on the homepage in the links column (along with Blackboard & Tech Advisor) you will find Career Tech.

2) This will take you to homepage for the State Department of Career Tech Education which is shown on the next page.

3) Click on the EDUCATORS tab.4) On the next window click on ASSESSMENTS AND TESTING.

5) This links you to the Brainbench Virtual Testing Center. Scroll down and click the TESTING button.

6) When the Brainbench login screen pops up, follow directions below:a. Enter in your individual information. Write down this information and store it in a

secure location. You must USE THIS EXACT INFORMATION EVERY TIME you login. All fields MUST be filled in!

b. Course ID # -- your instructor will give this number to you.

c. If you know the last four numbers of Social Security Number, use those in the SSN field. If you do not, using “1111” is permitted. The important thing for you to remember is whatever numbers you choose to use, you must be the SAME numbers every time they login.

d. NOTE: It is critical that you have a UNIQUE email address. If you do NOT use the exact information to login every time, you will end up with multiple transcripts. It is advisable that you Create a “Screen Print” to printout your login information; place one in your Notebook and give the other copy to me.

e. User name: brainbenf. Password: ________________. This changes each year; your instructor will give this

to you.

7) Click Submit and record your Transcript ID number: ______________________. You will need this number to see the exams you have taken. I will need this so that I am able to order your certificates. Print two copies; one copy for and the other will be placed in YOUR NOTEBOOK.

Use upper and lower case letters to enter your name.

8) Select “Take a Test” in the center of the page.

9) Scroll through the tests to select a Brainbench test – they are listed alphabetically. READ the screens carefully and proceed. GOOD LUCK!

Always write down the PIN number for each test in case you become discon-nected. This “PIN” will allow you to begin the test where you left off, if for some reason your computer is shut down during the test.

For the first time you take the “course” Brainbench, select the PRE-TEST .

10) If you do NOT pass the test with a 2.75 or higher, print 2 copies.*Write your name at the top of each sheet. Please give one to me and place the other in your Notebook.

11) If you pass, see the next section.

12) Continue to take the test at least once each day until you pass the scheduled test. Remember to follow the information in step 6 above.

WHEN YOU PASS A BRAINBENCH TEST

1. Go to Build My Transcript in you Brainbench Certifications Account Options

2. Click Test on Record.

3. Under “Would you like to make your transcript public?”, click YES.

4. Scroll through the listing of the tests that you have taken and click YES only on those tests that you HAVE PASSED

5. Click on button

6. Print 2 copies of your TRANSCRIPT. Give one to me and KEEP one in your Notebook.

How to Access Your Tulsa Tech Drive from any Computer

1) Go to my.tulsatech.com2) Log-in using the same user name that you use at your Tulsa Tech computer.3) Use the same password that you use to log in at your Tulsa Tech computer.

4) Here are all of the things that you can access from any computer:

5) A list of all the documents you have save on your Tulsa Tech computer will appear when you click on the H. Choose the file that you want to use at your current computer.

6) Choose the “Save” option to save the file to the current computer that you are using.

7) “Open” the file that you want to work on. Make sure that you save your file after you use it.

8) After you have modified a file on your current computer you want to add the changed file back to your home drive so that when you return to school you have the updated version of your file. To save your modified file, here is what you do:

8) “Browse” the computer you are on to find the file you have been working on.

10) Choose “Upload” to add the file back to your home drive.
