2016 - 2017 STUDENT STATISTICS Undergraduate Ethnic Minority First Generation Undergraduate Female Graduate Placement 1 452 14% 22% 31% 91% 77 1 Self reported percentage of students graduating in the past two years who were employed as engineers or attending graduate school within three months of graduating. In the Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering, faculty and students are working to improve existing technology and create the next generation of hardware and software. This department is one of the largest in the college, with a healthy number of doctoral students. This department is home to two separate degree programs. In the computer science program, students develop the skills they need to deliver high quality software tools that industries and organizations depend on, taking into account scheduling and budgetary concerns. Computer engineering students design computer products that are efficient and secure. Faculty in computer science and computer engineering are focusing on important technology issues such as big data and cybersecurity. In recent years, new research centers created in the department have begun to tackle some of the most pressing issues in the digital world, finding ways to organize and interpret large amounts of data and protecting security and privacy of organizations and individuals.
