ABSTRACT
This study focused on the compound words that were found in Twilight Novel.
This study aimed to describe the types of compound words; to describe the function
of the compound words and to describe the meaning of the compound words which
used in TwilightNovel.
The type of the study was content analysis method and used qualitative
approach in finding out the answer of the problem of the study. The object of this
study was compound words. The collecting the data such as data collection, data
reduction, data display and conclusion was used in data collecting procedures. This
study was validated by using theory triangulation.
The results of this study showed 253 of compound words. According to
Delahuntly, Garvey, JD. Murty and Katamba’s theory on the type of compound
words, there are 5 of open form of compound words, 65 of hyphenated form of
compound words and183 of closed form of compound words. In the function of
compound words in O’grady and Dobrovolsky theory, there are 173 of compound
noun, 13 of compound verb and 67of compound adjectives. Based on the meaning of
compound words that found from the contextual meaning, according to Nigel Fabb
theory there are 140 of exocentric compound and113 of endocentric compound that
found in the Twilight novel written by Stephenie Meyer.

KATA MAJEMUK YANG DIGUNAKAN PADA NOVEL TWILIGHT
YANG DITULIS OLEH STEPHENIE MEYER
ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini berfokus pada kata majemuk yang ditemukan pada novel
Twilight. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tipe-tipe dari kata majemuk,
mendeskripsikan fungsi dari kata majemuk dan mendeskripsikan pemaknaan dari kata
majemuk yang digunakan pada novel Twilight.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kajian isi dan menggunakan pendekatan
kualitatif untuk menemukan jawaban pada rumusan masalah. Objek dari penelitian ini
adalah kata majemuk. Pengumpulan data seperti data collection, data reduction, data
display dan conclusion digunakan pada prosedur pengumpulan data. Penelitian ini
divalidasi dengan menggunakan trianggulasi teori.
Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan ada 253 kata majemuk.
BerdasarkanteoriDelahuntly, Garvey, JD, MurtydanKatambapada tipe-tipe dari kata
majemuk, ada 5 kata bentuk terbuka dari kata majemuk, ada 65 kata bentuk
hyphenated dari kata majemuk dan ada 183 kata bentuk tertutup dari kata majemuk.
Dalam fungsi dari kata majemukpadateoriO’gradydanDobrovolsky, ada 173 kata dari
kata benda majemuk, ada 13kata kerja majemuk, dan 67 katasifat majemuk.
Berdasarkan pemaknaan dari kata majemuk yang
ditemukandarikonteksmakna,menurutteori Nigel Fabbada 140 kata bermakna
exocentric dan ada 113 kata bermakna endocentric yang ditemukan di novel Twilight
yang ditulisolehStephenie Meyer.
