Purpose
To educate H&P employees and others within our
drilling industry of the hazards that may be
encountered while working in drilling operations.
To provide illustrations that will assist in
identifying and eliminating “Oilfield Trash” from
drilling operations in pursuit of creating and
maintaining an injury free work place.

Volume 4 – Electrical Devices
This volume addresses electrical OFT,
including homemade extension cords
and other electrical devices.
By improperly repairing or creating
makeshift electrical components we
increase the risk of electrocution, fire
or explosion.
![Page 28: Composite Catalog of Oilfield Trash - 2010 Edition](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022071602/613d6369736caf36b75cbdc1/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)

Volume 5 – LP/HP Fittings
Combining Low Pressure and High
pressure equipment, presents a
significant hazard that is responsible for
causing multiple fatalities in our industry.
Particular attention should be given to
improper connections in high pressure
systems, as this if often times the weakest
link in the pressurized system.
![Page 30: Composite Catalog of Oilfield Trash - 2010 Edition](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022071602/613d6369736caf36b75cbdc1/html5/thumbnails/30.jpg)

Volume 6 – Inadequate Repairs
Although inadequate repairs are often
done with good intentions, these repairs
increase the likelihood of failure, damage,
and personal harm.
An inadequate repair hides the damage so
that it is overlooked until a catastrophic
failure occurs.
![Page 33: Composite Catalog of Oilfield Trash - 2010 Edition](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022071602/613d6369736caf36b75cbdc1/html5/thumbnails/33.jpg)

Conclusions
We must remain vigilant in inspecting all equipment
and parts upon receiving them on location and avoid
creating makeshifts in the name of productivity.
OFT is an industry epidemic that must be addressed in
order to provide a safe workplace for our field
employees, third parties and customers.
Q: How much Oilfield Trash do you have in your
operations?
