Responded that we have no part in how a judge establishes violation amounts, and that

we will continue to stop and ticket overweight trucks in violation at our bridges in

adherence to our rules, in order to protect the roadway structures from the damages that

such heavy trucks cause. Explained that these damages cause expensive repairs and

Contacted us regarding paving of the Ring Road behind the

Bronx-Whitestone Bridge facility building, which has been

flooded frequently and is muddy from the heavy rains.

Explained Ring Road does not belong to us. However, our current work on the Bronx

approach reconstruction project calls for paving a section in the vicinity of the lower

garage after the job is finished (because of our work here we are obligated to fix it in the

small area that we've impacted). Overall, though, conditions on the road had become so

bad this past spring (mostly due to heavy rains and flooding) that we had asked our

contractor to temporarily repave a portion of the road under the approach continuing up

past the golf course entrance (even though we were not obligated to do so). The

community recognized this effort and was appreciative. There is still a flooding issue on

the road as the drainage inlets go to a mostly clogged storm drain that is on Parks

Department property.

available. Moreover, in addition to the cost of installing a MetroCard Machine, the cost of

installing a station controller and dedicated phone line would make the installation of a

machine at the requested location very costly.
