DISD BOARD APPROVED 2% RAISE TO THE MID-POINT OF

TEACHER SALARIES

How HR calculated the raise for existing teachers?

• The ‘midpoint’ is determined by calculating the average salary based on a 1st year teacher’s salary and the highest paid teacher’s salary.

1st Year Teacher Salary + Highest Teacher Salary

SUBTOTAL ÷ 2 NEW SUBTOTAL x 2%

= $1,225

+ $1,225(effective 2014-15)

WHAT ABOUT EQUITY ADJUSTMENTS?

What is it?

Based on the comparable school districts, if a position is found BELOW market rate, an equity adjustment MAY be added to that level.

2014-15 TEACHER Equity Adjustments:

• 15 Years of Experience + $ 90• 16 Years of Experience + $180• 17 Years of Experience + $160• 22 Years of Experience + $ 60

Who gets it?

Each year the Board MAY approve a specified amount of budget funds in addition to raises. The Board can specify which pay group to apply market adjustment based on greatest need.

WHAT ABOUT STEPS?

MYTH: I can look at the STEPS and see my salary for the next school year.

FACT: STEPS are always reshuffled each year and are NOT a guide to future compensation.
