DUMC Moving Forward Plan: Green Phase

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

DUMC’s Moving Forward Committee has been prayerfully planning for our building reopening over the last few months. We are pleased to announce that we will be resuming in-person worship beginning on Sunday, July 26th. We will be offering three in-person worship services: Contemporary, Liturgical, and the 11:11 Word and Worship. There will be some new processes and procedures that will be required to allow us to safely convene. We request your patience and understanding as we are working diligently to keep your family, and your neighbor’s family, safe. Please stay tuned for more details to come. Prior to in-person worship on Sunday, July 26th, we will be reopening the building in a deliberate and thoughtful way. We will be utilizing the month of July to learn and refine our safety and cleaning protocols so that we are ready for in-person worship by the end of the month. As such, building usage over the month of July follows:

Week of July 6th: Overholt Hall Opens (for groups of 25 persons or fewer with one group per day)

Week of July 13th: Expanded Room Usage to include:

Room 2 (for groups of 20 persons or fewer)

Room 22 (for groups of 20 persons or fewer)

Overholt Hall (for groups of 60 persons or fewer)

Building usage will be limited to two groups per day with one hour in between groups To book rooms beginning on July 6th, and for the use of our outdoor facilities, please reach out to Gay Brunt Miller: [email protected] or 215-348-5224. Let us trust in HIS plan for our future and for DUMC. Thank you again for your patience, understanding and support as we reopen our doors.

Health Corner Greetings Friends! We miss you and look forward to getting together soon! We have been praying for you and those affected by the Corona Virus. We have developed procedures to sanitize DUMC and have it be a safe place for us to gather. There are many myths about prevention, and as your Minister of Visitation and an RN, I want to help you protect yourself and your family. COVID is primarily transmitted by respiratory droplets and aerosol particles spread when we talk, cough, sneeze, yell, or sing. That’s why wearing a mask is so important.

You may have heard, “Your mask protects me and my mask protects you.” When wearing a mask/face covering and observing social distance, the chance of transmission is quite low. The second part is washing your hands frequently to prevent transmission via places frequently touched. The two main factors in acquiring COVID are time and distance. The time you have spent talking to an infected person (even one without symptoms) and the distance away from them is directly proportional to the likelihood of you becoming infected. Rate of transmission is highest inside poorly ventilated rooms and lowest outside observing precautions. Please take precautions to protect yourself. We are currently on a plateau with the Corona Virus; it has not gone away. The only “cure” will be a vaccine or proven treatment, both of which are many months away. Please pray God gives us wisdom in eradicating this contagion. For more information, CLICK HERE.

Staff Transition

Greg Westerbeck, DUMC Business Administrator, has announced plans to retire,

effective June 30. Greg was hired part-time, a little over two years ago, to help manage the transition of our long-serving senior pastor, Mike Murphy, to our new senior pastor, Sunil Balasundaram. Greg’s strong business background brought a wealth of expertise to his role, a heart after God, and leadership that helped insure continuity through many staff transitions during this time. Greg has been a gift to DUMC, and we pray God’s rich blessings upon him in his retirement.

In Our Prayer Garden In the Garden

By C. Austin Miles (1868-1946)

I come to the garden alone, While the dew is still on the roses, And the voice I hear, falling on my ear The Son of God discloses. Chorus:

And he walks with me, And he talks with me, And he tells me I am His own; And the joy we share as we tarry there, None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice Is so sweet the birds hush their singing, And the melody that He gave to me Within my heart is ringing. I'd stay in the garden with Him, 'Tho the night around me be falling, But He bids me go; through the voice of

woe His voice to me is calling.
