Don’t Shred those Cards Just Yet…We are pleased to announce there are no major changes to the Compass Rose Health Plan next year! Therefore, we will NOT be issuing new member identification (ID) cards. Your 2014 cards are still valid for 2015.

Your member identification cards are used for claims processing, fulfilling prescriptions and medical appointments. As a friendly reminder, the cards are not unique to every person on your health plan—each card features the name of the member as well as the name(s) of any dependent(s).

Remember, if you have Medicare B as your primary insurance, you have the freedom to choose ANY participating Medicare provider. The Compass Rose Health Plan is a secondary plan payer to Medicare B, and will pick up eligible expenses after Medicare has processed the claim.

Should you need additional cards, you may order them at any time through the online Member Portal or by calling a UMR Member Services Representative at (888) 438-9135.

Member Satisfaction Guaranteed Ever wonder what other members think about the Compass Rose Health Plan? Or how it compares to other FEHB plans? The survey reports member experiences and satisfaction with our health plan for the previous 12 months.

Compass Rose Benefits Group could not be more excited by these results from the 2014 Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey conducted in March.

The results found that 90% of our members were satisfied with claims processing, 93% get the care they need and 94% approve of our customer service.

We always love hearing what our members have to say about us and look forward to continuing to provide you with superior health care and service!

COMING SOON: QuitNet Upgrade QuitNet, our Smoking Cessation Program partner, will be upgrading their website in 2015. All existing enrolled members will need to re-enroll on the new site (starting January 1, 2015) and will receive a welcome email once registered. The Smoking Cessation Program is free to all members of the Compass Rose Health Plan and gives you the flexibility to choose the quit method that best fits your personal needs. If you are ready to stop smoking and start enjoying a healthier life, visit www.compassrosebenefits.com/QuitSmoking.

We Need Your Help The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires all health insurance carriers collect birthdates and Social Security Numbers (SSNs) of all enrollees and their covered dependents. This information will be used to prepare an annual IRS 6055 filing.

You may have recently received a letter from us requesting that you provide your birthday and Social Security Number. If you have not received this letter, that means we already have this information on file. If we do not have the SSNs for you and/or your covered dependents, we request that you provide this needed information at your earliest convenience. Please complete and return the W9 form that was included with the letter.

Compass Rose Benefits Group holds your personal information confidential. If you have questions about this request, please contact our office at (866) 368-7227 or email us at [email protected].

HEALTH NEWS HEALTH NEWS

Your 2015 Prescription Drug Benefit Take the Right Steps with Preventative Care Preventative care is an easy and effective way to prevent disease and live a longer, healthier life. There are many benefits to getting routine exams and authorized screenings, even if you are healthy. Most people who have medical problems, such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol, do not experience symptoms. By going to your doctor for a routine exam, you can receive disease screenings, assess your risk for future medical problems and update vaccinations.

Routine exams are a great preventative measure to stay healthy, and early detection can decrease severity should something be discovered. Depending upon your age, risk levels and health conditions, your doctor will make recommendations for frequency of screenings and exams. The following are recommended preventative care screenings that every adult should have checked during routine exams.

• Blood Pressure Screening

• Cholesterol Screening

• Physical Exam (including BMI and assessments on mental health, diet and exercise and alcohol and tobacco use)

• Immunizations

• Diabetes Screening (if your blood pressure is above 135/80)

• Osteoporosis Screening

• Colon Cancer Screening (if you are over the age of 50)

Women should also have an annual, routine gynecological exam. A routine gynecological exam includes a pelvic exam and, depending upon age and risk factors, a pap smear to check for cervical cancer and a mammogram to check for breast cancer. It is highly recommended that women conduct at-home, self-breast exams once a month.

Men should discuss prostate cancer screenings with their doctor.

As a Compass Rose Health Plan member, you receive 100% coverage on routine vaccines such as a yearly flu vaccination. There is no cost to you for routine physical examinations in your preferred physician’s office. In addition, there is no cost to you for cervical cancer screenings (adult women), routine mammograms (women 35 and older) and routine osteoporosis screenings (age 60 and above). For a complete description of preventative care services covered by the Compass Rose Health Plan, review the 2015 OPM Brochure at www.compassrosebenefits.com/Brochure. For further information regarding recommended preventative care services, please visit www.healthcare.gov/Prevention.

Effective January 1, 2015, the Compass Rose Health Plan will be moving to the Express Scripts National Formulary to better manage prescription medication costs, which reduces out-of-pocket premium costs. In moving to this formulary, some medications not on our current formulary will be added to preferred status, others to non-preferred status and some will be excluded from coverage.

Will I be Notified? If one of your current prescription medications is affected by this change, Express Scripts should have notified you in October. If you are affected by this change, and did not receive a notification, please call Express Scripts at (877) 438-4449.

What should I do?If your prescription medication is not listed on our formulary, talk with your doctor to identify an appropriate alternative on the list that will treat your condition. You may choose to continue taking the non-preferred medication, but will be required to pay the higher non-preferred copayment. If a medication is excluded, you will pay the full retail price.

In some cases, clinical exceptions can be made on non-covered medications. If your provider feels alternative medications are not an option, they can contact Express Scripts’ provider pre-certification line at (800) 753-2851 and supply the necessary information to request a clinical review.

If you have any questions on the above, please call Express Scripts at (877) 438-4449. Below is a partial list of the most common drugs moving from preferred to non-preferred status, and a complete list of exclusions for 2015.

The new comprehensive formulary, including commonly prescribed prescription medications and their less expensive, generic equivalents is available at www.compassrosebenefits.com/Formulary.

We Appreciate Our MembersCompass Rose Benefits Group prides itself on providing our membership with the best services. Here, you are known by your name, not a number. Even though we are based out of the D.C. metropolitan area, we feel it is important to personally connect with all of our members across the country.

Over 50% of our membership are retirees, and we are always looking for opportunities to interact with them face-to-face. That is why this year, our President, Randy Stoughton, and Vice President, Sherri Hebert, visited various places throughout the country to host several Member Outreach Events.

We are committed to our members and we want to ensure that they are heard, no matter where they live. Next year we will continue these Member Outreach Events in other locations such as Texas, Ohio and Maryland/Virginia. If you are interested in having us come to your state, please let us know by emailing [email protected] and reference Member Outreach in the subject line.

A Hallmark Moment There are many ways to show your support for others. Sometimes, all it takes are some kind words to brighten someone’s day. That is why on June 19th, Compass Rose Benefits Group employees came together to write hundreds of cards for “wounded warriors”—those wounded in service to their country. These cards were sent to Operation Gratitude, which provides care packages to service members recovering in Military Hospitals and Wounded Warrior Transition units located throughout the United States. We believe in saying “Thank You” to those who have served. To learn more about Operation Gratitude, visit www.operationgratitude.com.

Sending out a Bat Signal Superheroes (that is you), tune in to WTOP! If you live in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, tune in to 103.5/107.7 FM WTOP and 1500 AM WFED during Open Season. You will hear about our health plan—the sidekick every great superhero needs.

Enhancing Your Member ExperienceWhen it comes to exploring insurance and your options for coverage, the experience can be overwhelming and confusing. That is why we have simplified the complexities of insurance with a brand new website.

We have a solution-driven philosophy that is evident throughout our new website and essential to continuing our member-focused way of business. From the moment you reach our homepage, you will feel at ease, as we have created an entirely streamlined process—whether you are a member or a prospect, an active employee or a retiree, you will only be a click away from finding what you need. Most importantly, our website is now mobile and tablet compatible, giving you access to your insurance coverage wherever you go!

Our founding principles—service, stability and security—align with those of Superheroes; and our membership is our nation’s heroes. We show our members these values through our website. You are busy enough as it is, you do not need to read through and analyze paragraphs of technical text to try to understand your insurance coverage. The visually fresh icons that guide you throughout our website provide an engaging experience that is relatable, and not at all daunting. You can place your confidence in us to help you find and understand insurance solutions specifically for you.

Although our new website is extremely simple and easy to use, we know it will take some getting used to. Feel free to contact a Member Services Representative if you need assistance navigating the new website by emailing [email protected] or by calling (866) 368-7227.

We have officially raised the bar on what you can expect from your insurance company. So check us out at www.compassrosebenefits.com!

Why You NEED Life Insurance Generally, we do not like to think about what will happen when we die, but if someone depends on you financially, it is something that needs to be addressed. There is a misconception that you do not need life insurance until you are much older and it simply helps pay for the funeral and any bills left behind. While that is true for some, it is not the reality of many. What would those who depend on you do if something were to happen to you tomorrow?

If you are single, you might think that you do not need life insurance because no one depends on you financially. But what about your parents? If something were to happen to you, who would take care of them as they age? Life insurance does not need to be left to just spouses and children.

When you are in your 30s, 40s and 50s, you are experiencing some of the greatest times of your life. Not to mention, you are also at a point where you are making more money. At the same time, you have a greater financial responsibility, which means you have more to lose.

If you are married, you most likely up-sized your lifestyle with a bigger house and two cars because you are living off two incomes. Would your spouse be able to afford your mortgage and bills if you were not there to support them? You most likely have insurance on your house and your cars, so you should insure your biggest asset—your life.

If you have children, you dream about the proud moment when you send them off to college or walk them down the aisle. What if you are not here to experience that with them? Would you still want your kids to be able to afford college and the wedding of their dreams? Help ensure happiness on their big day.

Life Insurance provides more than just money for funeral costs and bills. It can help provide financial security for the ones you love. Should the unimaginable happen, planning ahead to help protect your family is one of the best things you can provide.

No matter where you are in life, there is always an opportunity to better protect yourself and your loved ones. With just three simple questions, you can apply for our Group Term Life Insurance through New York Life Insurance Company to help provide you and your family with peace-of-mind. Unlike most life insurance plans, our Group Term Life Insurance* plan INCLUDES protection for losses due to Acts of War and Terrorism, anywhere in the world. Our plan is also 100% portable! So, even if you leave your present employer and/or your government position, the plan stays with you.

You and your family can receive up to $500,000 in life insurance coverage with our Group Term Life Insurance plan. To learn more, visit www.compassrosebenefits.com/Life.

*For the plans features, costs, exclusions, limitations, eligibility and renewal provisions. Underwritten by New York Life Insurance Company, NY, NY 10010 on policy form GMR-ER-P.

Caution: Accidents CAN HappenIn 2012, 33,561 people died in motor vehicle accidents in the United States. That is nearly 92 deaths per day, or one every 15 minutes. Accidents are the leading cause of death for people 44 years old and under, and the third leading cause for people 45-64 years old. Accidents that result in injury have an even greater chance of happening, such as dismemberment (loss of limbs, sight, hearing and/or speech), coma, loss of use/paralysis or severe burns. Whether it is a fender bender, a job hazard or merely slipping and falling, accidents happen every day and often come with physical and financial consequences.

You wear your seatbelt, typically get your full 8 hours of sleep and often make the right choices to prevent accidents from happening. Try as you may, you cannot control the teenager texting and driving, or the ice that Mother Nature bestowed overnight. Are you prepared for all financial obligations that can result after an accident? If you were no longer here, or were unable to continue supporting your family, what would you do? Will you feel burdened by the costs of hospital bills… rehabilitation… therapy... should a harmful accident occur? No one likes to think about these questions, but having answers could make a world of difference to you and your family.

Compass Rose Benefits Group is committed to helping you and your loved ones be prepared in the event that the unthinkable occurs. You and your entire family are eligible to receive guaranteed coverage through our affordable Accident Protection Plan with no medical questions, underwritten by Nationwide Life Insurance Company. Coverage includes accidental death, accidental dismemberment AND Acts of War and Terrorism—which many insurance policies do not cover. The plan has additional benefits that can help pay for expenses such as bereavement and trauma counseling, child day care, education, rehabilitation and wheelchair confinement.

Each day, you and your family face the possibility of a serious injury or accidental death. When the unthinkable happens, make sure you and your family are prepared—visit www.compassrosebenefits.com/Accident.
